If you are playing an archer ranger you can go 3 in to rogue and go Thief to get an extra bonus attack.
Bard has some good Flourishes that give extra attacks.
Monk can use offhand attacks and flurries as long as you leave the offhand empty, so you can benefit from mellee bonus attacks that way.
Fighters get Action Surge (short rest to recharge) that gives an extra attack.
If you really want to min-max attacks per turn there's lots of multiclass options for ranger +.
You could dual-wield, but that comes at the cost of smaller damage dice, but would stack with Hunter's Mark, if I'm not mistaken.
There's Potion of Speed that if fairly common and gives you an extra action (2 attacks if you have extra attack) and there's Elixir of Bloodlust that gives you an extra action every time you kill an enemy.
Also at some point some casters may learn Haste, to replace using the potion.
They stack with paladin 5/ Warlock 5 (Pact of Blade) to get you 3 attacks without buffs.
That's technically a "bug"
Else they do not stack normally.
Keep in mind you're describing 2 different things. Being Ranger 5 and Fighter 5 means you're level 10, not level 5.
I am using dual hand crossbows and I read somewhere using them you can get off like 6 attacks per round so that's what I was hoping to achieve not sure how though...
I'm looking for ways to maximise my dual hand crossbows to do as much damage as possible any tips? Ty
Go ranger 5 Gloomstalker, 2 fighter for Action Surge, 3 Rogue with Thief.
You will get:
Ranger 3: Extra surprise attack once per battle
Ranger 5: Extra Attack on main action
Rogue 3 Thief: Extra Bonus action
Fighter 2: Action Surge once per short rest (functionally once per battle)
This will give you over 6 attacks on the 1st turn with a double crossbow setup.
Stack that with things like Haste and you can get way more. It honestly gets kind of absurd.
Bard College of Swords "Slashing flourish (Ranged)" can let you pick two targets instead of one per attack or the same target twice functionally netting you more attacks too.
You gave him ways to get extra attacks at lvl 12 not lvl 5.
Will you stop? They get what I mean stop being dumb
Technically level 10. Since we're being exact and all. :P 5 + 3 + 2 = 10.
If you want to fully maximize attacks at lvl 5 ONLY then go 3 rogue 2 fighter for action surge and bonus action. There's also some Monk combinations that can get absurd attacks per round at lvl 5 too if you're going a mellee route, but OP specifically was talking about ranged dual crossbows. I specifically included Gloomstalker Ranger because they said they ARE currently ranger.
