Gale Hard locks the game
If you kill gale , by sacrificing him to Booal, he will end your game in 3 long rests, if you pick gale in act 2 and walk up to kethric, he will just blow up, Act 3 orin kidnapping ended the game. gale has ruined 4 runs so far

I mean, he makes it clear killing him has consequences, and the Act 2 thing is clearly set up as a bad idea.

Orin kidnapping Gale is not an auto game over, unless you tell her to kill him I suppose.

Like I get maybe screwing up the Booal sacrifice but after a certain point it should be clear it's a bad idea to kill Gale.

Me and my friends let orin kill gale a couple times, and nothing happened.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Sorry, but this is hilarious :)

Easy solution, take his hand in the beginning, leave the rest stuck in the portal.

Well now I wouldn't say gale is all that. OF course I've never used him as a party member in all honesty. Heck this current play through I don't even have him in the party as I've never picked him or Astarion up. Only picked up Lae'zel because she all but is forced on you when your headed to the creche.

I've actually only ever done it once in my purely evil playthrough, but it's one of the things I regret... let's say less than others.

I like it cause it's a nice diversion to 'just kill everyone'. Besides you can get rid of him easily enough, but just don't kill him. Although in the end he can become quite useful.

I am a bit confused here - you made a post just to tell the world that you are unable to learn from your mistakes and do the same stupid thing over again?

Also no, Gale will NOT walk up to "Kethric and just blow up" - First he initiates a dialogue with you where YOU tell him "Gale you cannot do this. You can't condem us [etc.]" and easily convince him to not do that. You chose the other option, telling him to "do it". Orins kidnapping in itself is also not a blowing up, like Slav Mcgopnik already mentioned. And sacrificing him; well that's is completely on you, innit?
Either you are observant and don't do nonsensical crap or you leave him in camp and take someone else with you; everybody can be a wizard, for a mere pittance of coin.

And when you say "gale has ruined 4 runs so far" - then that only can happen if you play on Honour Mode. Here is the first sentence from HM's description:

So yeah.

I doubt this is true but its hysterical none the less

I mean, it could be...I've seen players skipping so much dialogue even if they don't know it....it sounds very possible to have someone simply skip over all the important parts...
If that's the case....Either stop skipping everything or live with the consequences...or stop playing story heavy games...^^

Naw, its to say it skipped the dialogue and he just blew up, he got sacrificed world ended after a long black screen with no cut-scene( suppose to have one) same with orin killing him. This is what happened you don't have to believe me this is just what happened in my 1000 hours be careful

So if gale is not the leader and you use him to talk to Kethric, he talks like the party leader is present and skips the dialogue and i don't get the options, Booal is because the body no longer exists = no cut scene.

Another one of so many instances of that old DnD wisdom:
"You can roleplay a stupid character, you should not expect to be rewarded for it."
