Just grab the mace then. You can have everybody but the character taking it stand outside the blast radius for minimal risk. Misty step is helpful to get out of the ring that forms around you when you grab it.

Don't even need to escape. Just destroy the 4 energy pillars and simply stroll out.

Just make sure to 'examine' the pillar tops as they are immune to some damages and you can't afford to waste many hits.

You should be able to escape the self-destruct. More fun that way anyhow

By the way (SPOILER)...
There's no need to run around collecting the weapons to solve the stained glass puzzle to get the crest.
Just move your party to the hatch that opens if you do solve the puzzle. A passive reveal should show the door. Cast knock on it. Job done.
