Please, revert last *hotfix* update
Pretty sure Hotfix 18 is broken. The .exe size is way smaller than the previous one (96MB -> 87MB) while it's supposed to just have 2 tiny fixes. Almost all of the address scanning functions in the mod broke (never happened). Something's not right there. They could've fiddled with compiler settings but that's not exactly something you'd do in a tiny hotfix.

Not touching that, at least for a while. Last time that happened (broken hotfix 4) it was reverted.

sigh.... that shucks
If it's a decision between having the game be broken for console players and non-mod users or having an existing mod stop working, personally I think the former is more important.

Though I am biased as I've never used any mods in this game, but I do think if I was using mods I'd still have the same opinion. Reverting this hotfix would make parts of the base game unplayable for a lot of people, that would be bad.

Since the hotfix, my character is stock with a godawfull haircut. I tried to change it in the magic mirror, but a lot of hair styles are juste gone.

You can revert it yourself with a little trick.

This is from NEXUSMODS forum. I just tried it and it works.

A WORKING SOLUTION FOR STEAM PLAYERS
Download previous bin files using steam console:
Open a command window "Run" by pressing «Win + R» and then enter the command: steam://open/console, and then press Enter.
Type command:
download_depot 1086940 1419652 8231067205656009020 [<delta manifestid>] [<depot flags filter>] : download a single depot

It will download previous unbroken exe files. Just copy and paste them into BG3 bin folder, and everything will work.

The hotfix 18 exe contains a lot of code that was changed in Patch 4, so it's old code. Code that was added in Patch 4 or later isn't present. I have the feeling this patch won't have a long life :) My camera tools released for the version before Patch 4 works almost ok with this patch, my camera tools for Patch 6 is almost completely broken with this patch.

Careful with something so dangerous which looks like inviting savegame corruption.

Why should it corrupt the savegame? These are the original Patch #6 files before the hotfix. If you want to be 100% sure ask someone that hasn't updated yet for the files and compare hashes.

That is not the part you should be careful about.
If you do not understand how it works, you are the last who should use it.

+1

I love the fact that you guys are continuing to work on the game and stuff. But patching every damn day? MMO's don't even do that. It's getting old.

And what part should I be careful about then? Please enlighten me, since you seem to fully grasp it.

You trying to run a new version of an app with files of an old version. If you cannot see the issue there, it is your problem. I have warned you and everyone else knowing there are better ways than that.

No, because after copying the files you basically reverted back to the old version. All files that were changed in hotfix #18 are overwritten and match the files as they were in patch #6 again. You can even see it in the version number right bottom corner of the screen in main menu.

Its seems you don't understand how this works lol. If Larian would revert the update this is the exact same thing that would happen too, only automatically through steam instead of manually copying the files.

Just don't do this if you already loaded up a save and saved while on hotfix #18. And if you're paranoid make a backup of your saves before doing this and loading up a save the first time.

But apart from that this shouldn't cause any issues at all.

I do not envy you for your naivity. So good luck and remember: you have been warned.
