BTW, those boots are mis-coded by Larian. They are supposed to be Very Rare, not Legendary or Quest items. They have no quest purpose.
plot armor is a *****
As far as the Legendary/Quest item coding of the item goes: I just wrote that off as the item itself being an Artifact, nothing more or less beyond title recognition, like that *spoilers* Rotten magic staff you can find in Aunty Ethel's lair. (eww btw)
It's also reasonable for Larian to have missed it.
And it's also reasonable for this to be something Larian creates an alternate version for in a patch down the line.
There's precedent for something like this in the game (similar to stealing the Runepowder Bomb in the underdark, and how they made it so the sussur blooms wither upon getting out of the underdark so you can't have them on you for Gale's potential big scene at the end of Act 2), it's the kind of thing this game tries to do.
So if enough people bring it to Larian's attention I can see this being something they make better, good call OP!
+1
That was probably before your best friend in bluestriped pants fell in the cauldron too, a day later ;)
