Sorry but the whole "second personality literally eating away at your brain waiting to take over your body while providing insight along the way" was done already. We call it 2077.

influential grey hair dommy mommy taking down run away corpos in a major metropolis with a sharp wit and attitude to match is old hat. Although, Jaheria vs rogue in a cougar vs cougar winner take all match is the spectacle the world needs right now.

Saburo arasaka is enver gortash, mr blue eyes is elder brain etc. etc. Cyberpunk might have come after but it certainly did it first.

speaking of bg3, why can my character be a woman and identify as a man when I can't be a ranger and identify as a druid? Whole thing seems suspiciously arbitrary...

Ceremophorsis is first mentioned in a Ad&D 2nd edition Book, way back in 1998. Try again.

I asked first - you can have a hit, though.

Unfortunately OP it looks like you never cracked a book or you would have realized that, like pretty much every cyberpunk game, Cyberpunk 2077 is just a mix of Sprawl Trilogy and Ghost in the Shell stuff, pretty much all of which predate that 2E manual that you got owned with.

And bg3 is just a mix of cyberpunk.

cursed talking items that slowly took over your body already existed in D&D before cypunk 2077 came out, decades ago even.

there is no new idea under the sun, but perhaps use an older IP to be your talking point.

I feel Larian got a lot of inspiration from the 5e book Volo's Guide to Monsters(which is really cool btw, would love for more 5e books fleshing out monsters like this). There's very in depth descriptions of hags(lairs), mind flayers( ceremorphosis), goblins(war camps), gnolls, etc. that are also in bg3. But yeah all this was invented for way earlier editions.

I don't wanna post too many images because I don't want to fight the law and have it beat me in return lol.

Spoilers?

Larian seems to have retconned how ceremorphosis works for the player or Karlach, however, ... though I would argue NOT for the Emperor.

In the canon lore, the player-flayer should have none of their original personality, emotions, feelings, etc. left ... the player's soul is gone, all that is remaining is a creature with his memories.

Some have argued though that for "plot reasons" (presence of Orpheus)? ... something different happened to the player when they went mind flayer.

Both good games to bad the later really needed to cook as long as BG3 or longer.
