Plenty of goblins, though, and a sprinkling of bugbears, ogres, hobgoblins, oh and quite a few gnolls.

Then you've got some "dalliances" with Mizora, the Drow Twins, etc. Add all that up, those are usually short and around 3 minutes or so.
This'll get you to about .. what? ... an hour or so of sex/romance content in a game that can often run up to 200 hours of playthrough. But maybe 100 hours if you're racing through.
All in all, I'd say that's about 1%.
By that, I mean, they don't get that different parts of the game are handled by different teams, and therefore just because one team is working on aspect X doesn't mean it is slowing down or hindering the team working on Y. Combat, for example, is probably being coded by a different team than the folks doing romance animations or dialogue.
So it's not like removing romance would result in better combat.
Don't get me wrong - you might hate the combat in BG3 and we can discuss that - lord knows we have - but it wouldn't necessarily be any better if they spent less time working on the romances.
Sorry if its been said already
Better game in what way? A hack and slash dungeon dive? I'll load up Diablo xyz if I want that. Just complete turn based combat with no story whatsoever? Wave after wave of enemies, drop loot, better equip, move on?
I just don't know what you guys actually think would make the game better without all the surrounding *reasons* there's a story to tell in the first place.
I had a response like this typed up earlier in the thread and gave up on trying to explain it. You put it more succinctly anyway.
Folks see something like Stardew Valley (which also has romance that isn't gender locked, btw) being coded entirely by one guy and think that's just how this stuff works. One guy working on every part of the game. Great game, he's a talent for sure, but it's not a triple-a game. Bigger projects need multiple teams with varying areas of talent, and the folks working on animations are not the same folks who wrote the engine. Usually. I mean, they *could* be, but the teams usually have some separation and work on their respective parts of the overall project.
I guess I'm just glad the devs are just trucking along and doing what they are doing, because gosh I can't imagine what a mess we'd have if they actually took some of the comments on these forums seriously.
This might be more your thing, hun.
