The best place to check are pges of the mods.
If the mods don't have dependencies, like e.g. BG3SE, for example the Vessnelle's Hair collection, most probably they will work. Other maybe not

True, but Larian stated several times that they don't officially support modding.
Nevertheless the majority of the most popular mods are usually very fast updated by the creators. For example, BG3SE update was released yesterday and lots of lots of the mods already been updated.
Personally, I've been using mods for years now and yes, it can be a pain with official updates but if you have a bit organization, it goes actually well.
It is possible depending on how the mod is coded.
