Ok. Guess I'm going to try it one-more time (-6 hours of downloading depot).

But thanks for link about trying to run game under NEW account. That might work in my case.

You do not need to redownload the rollbackversion. If once downloaded completly and properly, it can be reused any time. Just do the merger as described and then launch it from a new account without Steam.

A redownload or reinstallation never ever helped unless there is actual defective hardware. I cannot repeat it often enough it seems. For weird reasons especially mod users seem not to get it...

Ehem.... I don't have enough space to have BG3 patch 6 + BG3 Depots + complete copy of depot folder onto bg3 patch 6 folder (System asks for additional 20-50GB of free space to complete procedure for some reason).

So only option for me is to "Move" depot onto BG3 Patch 6 folder. Which clears depot so I need to redownload it again.

In such case it would be safer to put it on a USB Stick/external storage.

Overwriting the original files with the rollbackversion stuff always involves the risk of overwriting the rollbackversion. So if you are out of options:

1. uninstall the game first

2. download the rollback version

3. launch the rollback version without having the latest version installed nor Steam on

After another half-a-day here are conclusions:
1) You have the luckiest experience with the game
2) Rollback Guide have some problems
3) Rollbacked version actually not complete version of the game

Because here are results on New user (Win 11 btw).
1) Rollbacked version - no mods. Game starts and can go to prologue and save.
2) Rollbacked version - same mods, same manager, same load order = CTD at 100% main menu loading (birds start singing, but before loading screen changes to main menu - CTD)

From here my conclusions:
Game version, that we all had until Friday is NOT same as one we can rollback to. Either there were undocumented hotfixes, steam dependency, or mod supporters accidentally ruined mods by trying to make mods work for patch 6.

Report:
Save file (50 hours) is dead. Cannot recover it. Thanks Larian DevOPS.

Found steam-dependent mod. After nuking it - could start game.
All bags were bugged/no grid/ can't put anything into them.

Fixed by replacing bag UI mod.

Went through WHOLE nautilus ship - everything works.
ACT 1 - No terrain loaded. Could click on knocked out Shadowheart. After dialogue - can't do anything- no movement, no camp.

What you describe is what can be seen with Norbyte's Script Extender if you use the autoupdate version.

Of course it will not work unless you use the fixed troubleshooting version.

Hi there! I just want to thank you for this thread, cause here I found a solution! I used a guide and downloaded patch 5 version of the game. Tried save files from all acts, it seems all work just fine.
Very grateful for this guide! :) Very happy )

Actually, issue with game was the same, as described here: (Win 7 dll's)
https://steamcommunity.com/app/1086940/discussions/0/6292161380813884146/
And people adviced to use some GitHub stuff, but I can't figure out how to use it. Checked mentioned thread, seems they managed to launch the game.

So go back to patch 5 was good solution.
