WIN 7 KERNAL 32 DLL (ROLLBACK FIX)
When i got the game 2 F days ago, it would not launch, it took about 2 hours of searching around the web for solutions before i figured out how to force it to open without the launcher and work. Now after the update This error "The procedure entry point GetOverlappedResultEx could not be located int he dynamic link library KENRAL32.DLL." comes up no matter how I try to run it, I'm in disbelief that a patch would change the fundamental way the game operates and essential bricks it for certain users, fix this please Larien

Yeah, we can tell you know the truth by how you didn’t say anything of value.

Not really they are right about it. If you still use windows 7(which i also do on my older PC) if something is not working appropriately THAT DOES NOT SUPPORT WIN 7 anymore, that is not the developers fault. If you can you can try to make it run on win 7.
This old computer did not meet the specifics of BG3 when the EA was launched, but i still bought BG3, spent 5 hours and managed to get it work. Was ugly and slow as hell but it worked. A year later i bought my new computer and i tried out again, sadly by that time i already finished most of the content that was in EA on my old PC. But when i bought the game i damn well knew it MIGHT NOT RUN:P
But since i knew i will buy a new PC within a year and i had high hopes(which for me it did not deliver but that is my sorrow) for the game i bought it. I also knew that I might make it work since i am used to tinkering with settings, files to get something to work.
(When i had my first PC and my first games, for some games you could not enable the mouse on your computer, else you did not have enough memory to run them.)

Hey, good news! Glad you fixed it. I also posted a comment here with guide which tells almost same.

But a question, why patch 4? Not 5? Or you downloaded another version? I'm asking cause people on forum wrote that Devs cut some content (with patch 6 maybe)(it was about Halsin romance and sex scene; can't tell if it's true or not). I'm happy with game as it is, but don't want to lose some parts of the game. Perhaps, Early Access had even more good content that has been cut, but it's another question )

Once again, glad that you fix it!

There is a Guide how to use the kernel. There are also some guys working currently on a mod win10 kernel for win7. Early stage but work.

Also win7 is recieving another year of ESU support, so security updates till january 2025. good chances they will extend again.

If someone need more information, just check the mydigitallive forum.

Hey, it's a good news! Thanks! I took a quick look at forum.
You mentioned Guide for kernel. Is it in that forum? Can you give a link, cause I found some topics, but not sure.

It's not my guide, just the info about how it works, just download the version you want from the mainfests. It can take absolutely ages to download if you don't have 50MB/S or better, but I found that pre-valentines update works, with the shift trick :)

About the cut content.. the devs may have hornied too close to the sun on this one, bear sex scene, unless you're tha way inclined, I don't think you're missing much

Met same error, and Win 7 OS here too. Can't figure out how to use VxKex at GitHub.
But I use another solution, just roll back to patch 5.
Here is a guide, if you need one.

"There are also some guys working currently on a mod win10 kernel for win7. Early stage but work. " Is that so? Care to provide some details? I am interested in that.

That would be my honest answer. I can understand not wanting to use or purchase Win10/11. Thankfully, BG3 runs great on Linux.
I would generally recommend an upgrade to Win10/11 for an average user. I heard it's running really well on Linux. I've been secretly thinking about installing it on one of the computers at my night job.

Yeah, I don't know about 11, but 10 is objectively better than 7. :p Don't know why some people are stubborn about upgrading. Far as Linux goes... It's okay, but not worth the praises some people sing about it. And definitely not as friendly for the "average" user.

Care to provide some evidence, Mr. "Objectively better"?
