WIN 7 KERNAL 32 DLL (ROLLBACK FIX)
When i got the game 2 F days ago, it would not launch, it took about 2 hours of searching around the web for solutions before i figured out how to force it to open without the launcher and work. Now after the update This error "The procedure entry point GetOverlappedResultEx could not be located int he dynamic link library KENRAL32.DLL." comes up no matter how I try to run it, I'm in disbelief that a patch would change the fundamental way the game operates and essential bricks it for certain users, fix this please Larien

Windows 7 is not supported anymore.

The game prerequisites are Windows 10 at minimum. You should check the game prerequisites before buying it.

https://larian.com/support/faqs/system-requirements_47

MINIMUM:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
Processor: Intel i5-4690 / AMD FX 8350
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia GTX 970 / AMD RX 480 (4GB+ of VRAM)
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 150 GB available space on an SSD
Additional Notes: Default API is Directx11. Vulkan 1.1 API also provided.

I doubt they broke Windows 7 on purpose, but I also doubt that they care.

However, to get Technical:
The GetOverlappedResultEx function was added to kernal32.dll in Windows 8. Doesn't exsist in Windows 7.

Dude why are you so hostile? You´re using an OS which isnt supported anymore, what do you expect?
DrZann Feb 17, 2024 @ 3:14am
GetOverlappedResultEx wasn't added to the kernel32.dll till Windows 8. Sounds like the patched game has a new requirement that you don't meet.

Maybe you are thinking about Windows 10. That file is in Windows 10 too.

Me being me... I would drop a copy of the Windows 8 kernal32.dll into the bg3 folder just to see what happens.

When an operating system is no longer supported, that doesn't always mean that it won't "work" on an unsupported system. However what it does mean is that the product and it's subsequent updates are not tested against that unsupported operating system. In other words, if it works you're in luck. But there's no guarantee that it will continue to work with future updates. No consideration of product performance under that particular OS is given and support for it doesn't exist. I formerly worked in tech support with a company that provided web and software products and I saw it happen on occasion where a customer would find that a product "stopped working" or generated error messages and it was always due to the user being on an unsupported system.

By the way my job is IT support so I know what I'm talking about.

Could be fun. I'd drop in a second hard drive or reparation and install Linux with Proton....but I'm a gluten for punishment.

That would be my honest answer. I can understand not wanting to use or purchase Win10/11. Thankfully, BG3 runs great on Linux.
Gestahl Feb 17, 2024 @ 3:28am
Well if you can't afford or just don't wanna use newer Windows OS.. Maybe it's Linux time? I didn't think *Steam* would even run on Win7 anymore as of this year? Or did they change their mind about that?
