BG3 isn't woke.
It's not, I'm sorry. Having gay characters, or leaving open the boundaries of gender in a fantasy game, is not inherently woke. Woke-ism is the forceful use of gender politics at the cost of quality.

BG3 just happens to allow for gay pairings to happen (as they do in reality), allows for a gender/sex mismatch (which exists in reality) and presents strong female personalities (which also do exist in reality.) There's still no shortage of straight and strong male characters, and even though the character creator allows for it, none of the ingame characters you meet are trans (unlike, for example, Hogwarts Legacy approached it.)

The quality of the writing, the immersiveness of the World, none of this suffers at the game allowing the maximum number of people to imagine themselves as part of the Swordcoast.

A woke game would have all straight-white-male villains and gay-poc-whatever protagonists. That's the message, that's the woke narrative. BG3 has amazing women, and really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ones, and amazing guys, and really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ones.

In BG3, if you only know the identity features of a character, you won't be able to infer what side they are on. (And even what the sides are isn't really obvious.) Because it's not a woke game.

If anything, BG3 is in the same category of Arcane. They remove Christian identity politics (men as the inherent leaders, nobody allowed who isn't straight, white superiority, etc.) and instead mix things up. That doesn't make it woke, it's just not the right-wing version of woke.

There is a lot of media that's woke these days, but people got their circuits fried by political YouTube videos if they think BG3 is anything like that.

In this analogy, you're the one paying to walk outside and count the rocks to throw at your own face and blaming the outdoors for putting the rocks there.
You seem a little obsessed about rocks.

Lol I accept your concession.

Keeping in mind you started our interaction with your own strawman.

Gay content being in the game doesn't mean it's thrown in your face. You bought it: you get to complain about it, but don't pretend like it was forced on you.

My concession about your obsession about rocks? Dude, this isn't all about rocks.

Maybe you haven't squinted hard enough. When have you ever called a non-romantic friend "my flame"? An "old flame" is a previous relationship.

He also could be calling Wulbren a "flame in the dark" because he found him to be inspirational during a dark time in his life.

Dude, I've seen some crazy reaching on these forums, but you're REALLY reaching.

It's cool man, you no longer have an argument. Keep up the strawman :mimir_lol:

Its about as far reaching as any other interpretation. Luckily he is officially claiming Wulbren as "his" (My Wulbren) and calling him a flame, whereas an "old flame" does in fact mean a previous relationship. Sorry, if only they didn't include those quotes, you might actually have a point. Alas, that's the dialogue.

Yeah, he never says Wulbren is an "old flame". Those are YOUR words.

When asked why he is looking for him, he says "Flame in the dark." Could also mean it's as hard to find him as a flame in a very dark place.

Now we're on rocks?

How did we get onto Geology? I'm struggling to find the correct side to laugh at more as it is.

Go and call a friend of yours "my flame" and see where it gets you then.

It's not on rocks. Altimely pulled the classic "you seem obsessed with homosexuality" strawman fallacy and is trying to laugh away the "you seem obsessed with rocks" fallacy I threw back at him.

You again seem to be getting a lot of mileage over him using the word "my" in a DIFFERENT ANSWER to a DIFFERENT QUESTION, and then him starting a DIFFERENT ANSWER to that SECOND question with the word "flame".

Now, again, allow me to note, the player has to ask two different questions to get those two answers ... it's not like Barcus is necessarily following up with one answer after the other.

Like he says "my..." leaves that hanging in the air, and then says "...flame".

In other words "I don't like that you used context to draw a conclusion!" Yep, there are 2 factors of context:
1 - Calling Wulbren in a possessive fashion (My Wulbren) which is very often use in relationships. My wife, my spouse, my girlfriend, my <name>.
2 - Calling Wulbren a flame, which is the dialogue option that comes up AFTER mentioning Wulbren as "my wulbren". You cannot get this dialogue before Barcus calls Wulbren "my wulbren", only after. That means it is quite literally directly correlated.

Sorry, again, context does in fact say Wulbren and Barcus were in a relationship. You trying to dismiss the context is not a valid argument.

He just REALLY wants to make sure Barcus is gay so he can romance him, cut him some slack!
I'm sure there's a mod somewhere for Xrystus to download too!

Sorry, I'm already someone else's flame in the dark. You can imagine though, it's free real estate!

Since Trump they suddenly think their terrible opinions are more popular than they are and thus feel justified in repeating it online like anti-woke sheep
