same here. can't start new games; uninstalled and reinstalled; opening a new game takes me to a screen where there's four white men, four black men, and dark urge in the centre and all i can do is punch each other lol

Not a Larian Studios problem.

Just turning Mods off may not be sufficient.

Your Saves are probably all still there. Just not being displayed.

Don't Panic.

Try delete dwrite.dll from bin folder, this help me.

This is where your saves are stored:

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public\Savegames\Story

You can check there to see if they are there. Back them up if they are.

if using BG3 Mod Manager, delete all mods and not just make them inactive

I think I read something similar once, and yes the solution was to

gonna backup and try to check if i've deleted every trace of a mod i've got. i think i've done it but i might still have issues. i realise i don't have "saves completely disappeared" issue but i can't interact with anything other than corpses so i guess patch 6 broke me lol

The reason you want to back up your saves is that in some Mod corruption cases, the entire Larian Studios folder there will need to be deleted. Mods can change a number of files outside of themselves.

The Larian Studios folder in AppData is persistent across BG3 uninstall/reinstall cycles. And, unfortunately, that is where Mods live and work. So they and their changes persist as well.

at this point i've accepted that i'm willing to restart from the ground up; do i need to delete the entire larian studios folder in my appdata? thanks for your help so far by the way

There is a long and arduous process for deleting individual parts. But I think it is convoluted and easily done incompletely. Here is what I would do to recover:

* Turn BG3 Cloud Saves OFF
* Uninstall BG3
* Manually delete the Larian Studios folder in AppData
* Reinstall BG3
* Copy your Saves back into the Story folder

It is possible that the Saves themselves might be unusable. But it is worth a try and only takes a few minutes to check out. :)
