PSA: Script Extender mods do not work after Patch 6
Mods that use ScriptExtender do not work currently and crash the game if you load a save. Script Extender has been updated but the mods themselves seem to need updating as well.

To be able to play pre-patch saves you have 2 choices. Wait until the mods are updated or move mods listed as using SE to inactive.

All mods that require SE need to be updated after updates, this is nothing new ,) It's why BG3 Mod Manager tells you which requires SE and which is an override (so a mod you need to delete, not just disable) etc.

I am aware. I use mods often. I knew that when BG3 updated, I would have to wait a few extra days to play it.

Mods aren't officially supported and Larian has no obligation to officially support them. The onus is on the player to know this and mod responsibly.

Are you sure it has been updated ? The latest available version is still from October 2023 for me :(

which is the main reason I prefer Vortex - you don't have to "Delete", you can "Uninstall"

I think BGSE updates silently in the background. Meaning what you see on Github is the loader, and that hasn't been updated. For the payload, the loader connects to the interwebs and downloads automatically the latest version.

I don't know how to test /see if the payload has been updated though.

edit: And now that I think of it, that could be kinda sus since the payload is not on Github and open to inspection. Basically downloading and executing some code off a server somewhere. I'll leave that to smarter minds than mine, nobody said anything so I think we good.

It's just been updated, make sure the update file is back in the bin folder and you should be fine. :mendedheart:

Yes, its updated, load the game and at the bottom of the screen on the main page it lists the version and date of Script Extender.

Ah yes, that's true that BG3SE is located in : C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\BG3ScriptExtender

DWrite.dll doesn't need to be changed :)

Thanks :)

Are you using the version of SE that was release after patch #6?
By your symptoms I'd say you are us8ng the prepatch #6 version

I updated the script extender thru BG3MM and all my dozen or so mods work fine.

Spent 6 hours in the last two days using script extender mods in multiplayer with Zero issues. It is not script extender that is the issue.
