mods stopped workin how do i fix it.
first of all i knew from the start that this would happen the second an update happen and i am not stupidly asking why my mods aren't working, i know it's because of the update all i want to know is if i can fix it. since the update if i start the game and either continue or start a new game, the game closes and i get a pop up box that mention bg3se. i don't know how/if i can fix it. do i need to wait for an update to bg3se and then redownload it or is there nothing to do other then trash all of my mods.

Modfixer though, caused many problems in January 2024 and hasn't been updated since August 2023.

Modfixer in my understanding needs to be present when creating a character starting a new game. After getting on the Nautilus it needs to be deleted.

It caused issues, even without the issues people were having the huge issue of getting to end of game and there wasn't any epilogue because of Modfixer.

If you're getting them from Nexus, you can go to the "Mods" drop-down menu at the top. Then choose "Download History". It tells you when you last downloaded them and when they were last updated. If you look at that info, it should be apparent which mods you need to update in general and also which mods have been updated since the patch.

modfixer isn't a mod, it's literally only a text file packaged so it works as an override mod one of the few ones in existence that never need an update ;p

And to be clear, it causes issues because OLD mods + MODFIXER = apocalypse and even new mods need it because otherwise you get naked doods instead of character creation.

Just leave it where it is. Nearly all interesting mods will require it anyway

"Mod FIxer" is actually totally unnecessary and can be deleted, Haven't needed it for a long time.

Script Extender replaces its functionality.

I have never seen this so-called "issue" starting a new game without it causes. I think this is an urban legend at this point. It USED to happen, but not anymore,

Do I listen to this one? Because I don't know what is causing my problem for sure I don't know which one specifically of my mod is causing it if it's this one and I can uninstall it without breaking anything then I'd happily do that but I have no idea what I'm doing.

Mod fixer has had no reason d'etre since last August.

People say "it's just a text file". Well, yes, it's a text file that forces the story to recompile itself every time it is loaded. That is what it DOES.

That USED to be necessary for certain mods at game startup - last year - not anymore - updates to SE and game patches made it unnecessary. At this point it "fixes" nothing.

But that simple thing it does - unfortunately now at this point - only creates other problems. Most recently with quest items in HF 16.

I wouldn't be shocked if it was creating ADDITIONAL problems in Patch 6.

But could it be causing me problem? Because I don't really see a reason to uninstall it if it's not causing me trouble.

yes listen to Seeker. Script Extender works really well. You don't need Mod Fixer. Also uninstall all mods containing Mod Fixer, BG3 Mod Manager will put a special icon next to them. Some mods offer versions without Mod Fixer, some mods don't and in that case you'd be wise to uninstall them.

It seems the key problem right now with Patch 6 - from what I've read - hasn't landed on me yet - is
a) make sure Script Extender is updated (this will happen automatically in many cases but make sure)
b) alas, this appears to be not good enough - ALSO, all mods that USE Script Extender as part of their functionality MAY need to be updated AS WELL. (This could take some time and you might want to disable them until they are all updated.)

I may be one of the lucky ones as I CAN'T use it or mods based on it! (May end up finding out soon.)

I'm not using bg3 mod manager I'm using vortex and since I have already a bunch of mods downloaded I'm not sure it's a great idea to switch manager now

lots of reports claiming missing epilogue with modfixer, even before Update 16

It may be just a text file telling the game to repackage stuff but the issue is how the game repackages stuff, how competent Larian is at programming that command (and not hardcoding stuff etc)

Cause it seems like it repackages stuff but leaves out features introduced later, like the epilogue.

don't switch, just install BG3MM and just run it and point it at your mods folder. It won't mess anything up, you just run it, look at what mods have the Modfixer icon next to them, close it

that;s what I do anyway
