It says Downloading 103.8 GB and Patching 139.5 GB on my Steam client. If the update is just 17.5 GB, then why does Steam need to redownload the entire game everytime? This hapens every patch, and I'm on a metered connection. I don't mind 17.5 GB, but a 103.8 GB mandatory update for an offline game is a bit much, isn't it?

Lots of bug fixes in different areas of the game means lots of data blocks need to be recompiled/patched. The process reserves about 140 GB to do that.
If you're short on diskspace Larian recommends downloading the full game anew. i.e. clean install

Personal issue on your side. Happens often with players who have bad OS settings.

Looks like a skill issue, I only downloaded 17gb, took like 4 minutes.

It is hard to read when head is in the @$$.
This exact same topic rises every time any game gets update patch, then starts the scream.

The install takes a lot longer and a lot more space though. Space that is cleared again after the install.

I have the same issue. My download is 113 GB, as you can see on this screenshot:

Is there any way to fix it and to download 17 GB instead of this huge download?
Paradise Killer Feb 16, 2024 @ 12:42pm
Is it advisable to deinstall and reinstall the whole game, if it says like in my case, that i do not have enough space, even if i have ?

No. That says it downloaded 17GB and it's patching 113GB worth of files. That would be why the status bar says "updating" and not "downloading". For ♥♥♥♥'s sake, learn to read people.

i uninstalled and redownloaded cause it's simply faster for me so it depends on your connection speed
