getting mocked by a newbie friend in BG3 sucks

so, i am currently running BG3 with one of my friends. this is his first time dnd.
we are playing as a two person party. he played as ranged ranger, I played as a cleric.
the thing is, he constantly mocked me as a "useless sand bag" since I was the one who trying to hold the frontline and usually got beaten to death by enemies. while he just stayed behind and shoot.
he talked like he can win the fight easily without me tanking for him.
I am thinking about making him regret for it by changing my class to rogue or wizard.
sound like a good plan?

Your friend sounds like an average new player who hasn't yet grasped how the game works because they're lucky to be in the back.

Another option is to stay a cleric and simply let him rush into battle and just stay away or nearby but in stealth with an invisibility potion. Just simply walk by a combat encounter while your friend is fighting and then come back and rez him later, or talk to Withers later.

I had a friend who was being a ♥♥♥♥, so I brought him to the well with the spiders and suggested that we fight the spider queen. We get a hole that, if you jump down it brings you to the Underdark. He had no idea that existed until I thunder waved him into it.

If indeed you are a woman and he is a dude, then he might be testing waters for how bad he can treat you and you will keep on taking it as a joke. Plenty of those stories, sadly.

Usually it's not that bad and not intentional, to test waters to see how bad you can treat someone etc. It's a childish form of flirting. It's deeply in the subconscious of every man, even 5 year olds do this, they pick on the girls they like.

Why do they do it - because it works. Most women are submissive bottoms. Doing this establishes dominance early on, so they'll have much higher chance of being regarded as a potential partner rather than a friend.

Just look how many women go wet even at the thought of Astarion treating them like trash. That's why guys do it.

It's quite simple really. Maybe stop playing with them? They sound toxic and it seems to be impacting how you enjoy the game. If after playing with them you feel as though you wasted your time and youre frustrated, then this friend of yours is just not a good partner for you to play with.
