I've got massive screen tearing even though Vsync is enabled.
How do I fix this ?

Have you tried turning Vsync off and capping the framerate? How stable is your FPS?
KeepCleaving Mar 31, 2023 @ 7:09am
Are you using Vulkan or directx ?
Vulkan: you pretty much are stuck trying to get the in game refresh rate to work.
Directx: you can also go into your gpu control panel and enable forced vsync. If you're an nvidia, I recommend "fast".

Are you fullscreen or windowed?

not only i have screen tearing.. the optimization of this game is just plain bad. GPU utilization is around 31% and FPS isn't consistent. Dropping from 60FPS to 42FPS for no apparrent reason. i'm using just an RTX3090.

when playing cyberpunk 2077, god of war, the FPS is over 90FPS on 1440p with 99% GPU utilization. yes even cyberpunk the game that was known for its bad optimization. baldur's gate 3 is looking to dethrone CDPR. already 3 years in development,

they probably has been focusing on the PS5 or consoles by taking PC gamers money to fund consoles development.

Run the game in directx, not the default vulcan. A lot of players have better results with Directx. Especially if they're running windows + nvidia gpu

Can not speak for a lot of players, but I can for myself. I use Vulcan, max settings, on a I7 11700KF, RTX 3060Ti , at 1080p and the game plays very smooth for me. Then again, I am fine with fps between 50 - 60 ( have it capped at 60 anyway ). Would not notice much, if any suttering unless it dipped below say 30 fps.

I do not think BG3 is that demanding on a PC's graphic system. But as I said, different strokes for different folks.

I've got a 3070 and I'm getting at least 80 at worst on max settings - is this is a persistent issue for you? edit: 1440p

use double buffering instead. It removes tearing.

That worked even with the vulcan drivers. Thanks mate. :cozybethesda:

I can confirm that “double buffering” is the solution for screen tearing on Vulcan.

I have an RTX 3080Ti and the game is running perfectly smooth @ 4K 60FPS ultra settings.

I personally am having issues too but I think it's utilizing the cpu and that's what is bottlenecks me.

The game was working fine in early access patch 9. No graphic issues. After full release, the game is near impossible to play in crowded areas.

DOUBLE BUFFERING! Completly solved all my problems even with a 4070 at 1440p. The game is smooth and buttery now, thank you so much!!
