Being able to reliably cast lightning bolts that can hit multiple targets for 3d10 damage for 10 rounds of combat while only using a single spell slot is pretty great.
But there are other ways to help yourself keep your concentration. For example, Resistance (cantrip) adds a 1d4 roll to your saving throws so it's possible you can get attacked and Resistance will help you continue to hold concentration. Or as others said, create a character with high Constitution.
At the end of the day, when you're creating a character and you're a spellcaster you should consider what spells you really enjoy and how often you want to be using them. If one of them is a Concentration spell, then you should build your character accordingly and give yourself as much chance to hold Concentration as possible (Constitution stat, Feats for concentration, etc).
You can't be good at everything so most people that play casters tend to have to build either with direct (one shot) damage in mind or concentration.
Also probably worth nothing that Sorcerers start proficient in Con checks which could be worth considering
You can't be.....you understand the.....no.....no just never-mind I'm bowing out of this one lol.
By the way, I am a druid so I only put 12 CON as wild shape will overwrite my physical stats anyway. But perhaps I should put more.
Currently I have to make concentration checks for each damage type I receive. And if a paladin strikes me with smite and an enchanted weapon and has diped maybe his weapon into fire and coated it with poison I have to make a concentration check FOR EACH damage type I suffer from. This is ridiculous. And if they then have a second attack or bonus attack you can be sure not even the "war caster" feat will save you from concentration being broken.
There should be at maximum just one concentration per attack (preferably per turn). Not one for each damage type you suffer.
Yes I wrote this in a different post on this channel, that its bugged that you have to roll once for each damage inflicted etc once for the fire arrow damage, once for the Hunters mark and once for the damage, it should all be combined into one and the DC should increase for higher the dmg inflicted "Once" instead of multiple times.
Two words:
Constitution
WAR CASTER
If I get it correct, base dif is 10 or damage received. So for damage <10 its 10 difficulty. With 14 con you have +2. That means 40% chance per hit to be interrupted.
