Moonrise tower question/rant
is it worth to keep jaheira alive for act 3 ? without spoiling act 3 pls.

But she just keeps running in and dies after 1 round and I am just annoyed by this... I kinda just wanna let her die there.

I kinda hate how important characters behave in this game, its not like you did a fight bad so a important character died its more like we did every thing in our power to make sure every important character that fights with you has the worst AI ever so you loose them all or reload 100 times, have fun :)

Edit : I did it now but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ its annoying.... don't let important characters die so easily by having a bad AI please... :D

I've gotten to the point where if there's an NPC in a fight during scripted boss fights where the NPC could very easily die, I find that the Feign Death spell has been very useful for protecting them if you want as many people to survive as possible. It basically puts them in a coma where they take way less damage and aren't usually directly targeted. Just had to do this for a super crazy fight in Act 3 last night, but it worked.

Also without Spoilers, I will say that Jaheira is probably worth keeping around.

Sanctuary is also a low cost bonus actions option that will make her untargetable until the next tiime she decides to attack

She becomes a member of the party and has several quests in the next area.

Lol I had the worst. Beat the boss at the top and for some reason jaheira stopped being a party member and was still an ally. Post battle I looted the necromancer enemy and jaheira saw got angry and aggroed me. Had to reload.

Kinda disappointing that the reactions system is so screwed

Jaheira died during my playthrough while doing the moonrise tower raid and she was still alive once it was completed.

You can make the fight easier by killing as many acolytes as you can b4 starting the fight.

For the guards/ghouls in the front of the tower you can push them off the ledge. Bring your strongest characters (main character possibly, Karlach, frog girl) and just toss those SoBs off the ledge. Make SURE you close the front door before you do this so you don't have a chance at being spotted.

Once inside the tower go around and turn off all the lights. I brought Astarion for this part as his sneak attack is very useful. Again, close the doors before starting any fights. Use sneak attack, combos, build advantage, and kill people who aren't in the main chamber.

You can go down to the dock and just push all those guys off the dock into the water without killing them too. Same thing with the prison cellblock. For the rest of the prison you can go into the room with the questioners and turn off the lights, close the door, and murder them. Then go outside and murder the guards there too.

Once you get to the top floor by talking to General Whiplash you can do the same thing. Sneakily kill everyone you can, just don't go up to where the absolute is.

The main room right after the entrance and the throne room are a bit more difficult because they have alot of guards. You can just start the fight at this point as most of the guards will be dead and the ones that aren't will end grouped up and perfect for AoE which granny lady has in spades.

Just to add to this, the first time I assaulted Moonrise I did what everyone, presumably, does and also found myself very frustrated with the 'help' I received. After a couple days I gave it another try with a save immediately before going into the Gauntlet but with a new tactic. I cleared out the Moonrise towers top to bottom immediately after liberating the tieflings where it seemed prudent to kill everyone on that level. So long as you control your aggro and kill every group in one round noone is alerted elsewhere. That task completed I still hadn't gone to the throne room yet so I decided to sanitize everything else I could get away with. From the outside I climbed the ladder to the second landing, misty stepped to the scaffolding, then continued up until I reached the top and killed the enemies I found there. Then I retraced my steps back to the second landing and went room by room and took out every group there in a single round. Since there are no more than four enemies in any of these areas I sort of feel like this was the design.

After looting I then decided to see what lay beyond the Ascendancy door beyond which was suppose to be the Absolute and proceeded to lay out everything there. It took a few rounds but the enemies I didn't kill in the first round were just undead so it didn't really matter. Then I cleared the ground floor and went into the throne room and then followed I forget her name, like Z'Krell or Activia or something and when she gave me a quest to find Balthazar I proceeded to pump her for information and then I killed her too..

Some areas had to be cleaned up again after the assembly let out, but that was piece of cake and when I finally did assault the Towers only one person was left waiting for me.

Yeah, Jaheira became a true archer with solid ranged damage for me versus all the other classes i gave a bow to use when out of range for melee with rather underwhelming damage.

And you need her to recruit Minsc, such a huge character he makes even Karlach look small.

How do you re equip her? I have her as a companion assigned to my main character and can't interract with her spells or inventory at all, which is weird as she has a tonne of spell slots.

I found out that the guards in moonrise tower are surprisingly amiable with me setting up barrels of oil firewine and smokepowder all over the main floor

anyway

boom

i asked her to join me instead of leting her being controled by the AI. got much more use of her than she running like an idiot towards the clear curse that the ennemies put ahead.

that fight is a fight of atrition, the best way to win is just walk backwards and let the ennemies themsleves try to reach you with the curse killing them like the dumbasses they are. here, spoiled a way to chesse that fight for you.

The lvl1 spell sanctuary from a cleric, or feign death, is great. :P

It is baffling tho, the NPCs just suicide into things turn 1
Lithurge Aug 20, 2023 @ 11:16am
You have a choice to let her act as an NPC or become a sub member of your party that you control during the assault. Doing the latter makes it a lot easier to keep her alive.
Stim Addict Aug 20, 2023 @ 11:16am
Yes. Keep her alive.
