It is true that WotC didn't fund the development (if they did I'd expect a MUCH closer grip on development from them, and honestly a MUCH worse game considering their past history).
But they also didn't just offer the rights up to everyone who came knocking.
Yep, they turned away Obsidian and inExile as well, despite the past portfolio of many of the senior members of both of those studios.
Wasteland 2 and 3 lack any form of customization in builds imo. the games are fun but u generally unlock skills u need midway through the game and are just finding random stuff to dumb points into. If Wasteland 3 didnt have the Aspen map i would have quit during that time. but Aspen carried Wasteland 3 so hard imo.
Obsidean has pretty much failed CRPG games after pillars1 and 2. no other crpgs they made since then has net profit,
InExile made wasteland games which wouldnt work bcuz they had no custimization for builds. if they cannot manage to make skills etc in that game what makes u think they would beable to handle 100+ spells
And why would that have made the game better?
Currently your "argument" amounts to nothing more substantial than saying something like
"I think strawberries taste better than chocolate".
I agree with the response, DoS:2 sold very good bcuz it enabled multiplayer, something other Crpg games have lacked for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ages which is sad. Owlcat and Obsidean have never tackled MP in Crpg so there off the table. Also the fact that DnD inspired games like Baldurs gate/Pathfinder arent Tactical turn based has always confused me when its literally based off a Tactical turn based pen and paper game, meant to play with friends, which those other 2 avoid doing(ik ownlcat has implemented it TBC but its very poorly implemented)
You are extremely correct, god I love their writing in Pillars and Tyranny. We don't talk about Outer Worlds here...
And yeah I know there's almost no way they'd land a Baldurs title, I want them to keep the Pillars universe alive after all. But I think they'd absolutely knock our socks off with the writing and world building
That's really the issue. 5e is GARBAGE. They keep dumbing the rule set down to try and bring in more people and now they're targeting weird groups of people.
>BG3 is literally the highest rated game of all time
to be fair. nostalgia is a hell of a drug.
Fallout 3 was highly rated and that game is hot garbage.
