Romancing? More like casual sex.
The "romance" in this game is very disputable and off-putting. You are not allowed to "be nice" to everyone without your responses be seen as flirtatious and therefore triggering sexual tension and intercourse, to the point that it looks more like poorly written porn fanfiction. If you say "no", NPCs either leave your party or keep flirting with you, unless you act like an utter a**hole to them. Romance in other games, including the prequel Baldur's Gate 2, usually implied that you really have to work hard towards a certain character so that they might like the player character; instead, BG3 is all about the glorification of casual sexual acts: it is all made in such a way that caters to a very specific kind of people -- the sex-crazed and the sex-starving -- and is immersion-breaking for both homosexuals and heterosexuals players who don't fall into said categories.

All this, while the Store page describes the game as the following:
It contains General Mature Content, and may include Nudity or Sexual Content.
General Mature Content? How is this just "general"? And how is it possible that the game just may include sexual content, when every NPC and their dog sees your character as a meat slab to bang as soon as you do something they approve of?

This should be a CRPG that can be enjoyable by everyone -- at least every adult person -- and shouldn't cater just to a very niche kind of userbase. What Larian did isn't helping "inclusivity" or "diversity representation", it is however alienating a large part of people who do not want to get exposed to nor engaged in this kind of content without a way to opt-out, in the same way you can already opt-out of seeing genitals or characters in full nudity.

Dear Larian, if you don't want to revise the whole romancing aspect altogether, please at least give us a four-way choice as to which kind of sexual content (or lack thereof) we want to experience in BG3:
1) everything on -- i.e. how the game is right now;
2) everything off -- no romancing/sex whatsoever;
3) straight content only;
4) homosexual content only.

This way all people can play in the way they desire. I for one do not want to get up with sex and fetish simulators in CRPGs.

I fear that the issue lies with your personal views on romance and sex. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that you are from one of those Puritanical countries that are not, (how to say it?) ...living in the modern world as far as sexual attitudes and behaviour goes. USA?

Err no. You might be thinking of the gay community perhaps, it seems to me that they are quite easy with these things. Which might partially explain it. But people in general? Well not here they aren't. That would be quite scary.

its easier for you to adjust yourself than expect an entire company and all other players to adjust themselves for you.

I agree, but try telling the woke activists that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't believe that it is possible to have sex with ANY of the companions in Act 1. Having sex with someone with whom you've been with 24-7 for days, and whom you've quite literally trusted with your life isn't what most people would call "casual sex", unless you consider any sex outside of marriage casual.

I think Lae'zel and Astarion are the only ones?

Ah, okay, possible, I guess, but it's hardly like they proposition you unless you've flirted with them. And sounds like at least for the githyanki sex is normally casual and recreational culturally. But with the others, they definitely know you pretty well by the time they actually proposition you for more than a kiss.

Also Minthara, if you go the evil route.

Ironically, she becomes the least sexual relationship if you recruit her on a good-guy run.

Oh yeah I forgot about her! Even though I'm actively trying to romance her lmao

Yeah, and she has the most explicit scene imo

Baldurs Gate 3 should have gotten a reward for being the most degenerate ridden game of the year.

I mean ... it gets called romance because the marketers won't let them say "sexy times". In real life, you don't have to put your life on the line multiple times and endlessly prove your purity of purpose to get some action. BG3 is more on the mark here than the previous games, to be honest.
