It's stupid.
So, fighter 1-8 gets you three feat/ASI picks, then four levels in any other class gets you another.
Rogue 1-10 also gets you three feat/ASI picks because they get an extra pick at 10, but you can't get a fourth with just two levels.
They get feats at 4, 8 and 12 (and 6 is fighter). If you multiclass and reach those thresholds you can have up to 4 even multiclassing. If you don't, you'll miss one or more.

That might not be the most efficient use of the build though, as it also does depend on what class features you are getting for those levels. Sometimes it's totally worth sacrificing an ASI/feat for some other more useful ability/synergy.
I'm not familiar enough with bard to comment on that (I've never played a bard in BG3 nor in 5E tabletop).
