Save Minthara As Companion
Spoilers - This is your only warning

I feel... confused about this. I decided on my first playthrough, to just be evil. (Though I havent finished that one, got stuck on the final boss of Act 2 and decided to restart). But I was genuinely confused about Minthara.

She starts out incredibly evil. A deluded fanatic, though great and fun to be with. But she is only accessible if you are truly evil. Like, truly... evil. Helping goblins sack and raze a bunch of helpless Tieflings, basically the equivalent of tossing women and children to rampaging barbarians.

But then Act 2 rolls around, and Minthara shifts. She gets exiled, wants revenge and takes back up her Paladin Oath. Sure shes no saint. But now shes almost... good. And honestly, I kinda like it. I think its a good arc for her.

But theres no way to actually recruit her without being evil. And right now im going the goodie two shoes path with a good character. But I really like Minthara.

Does anyone know a way I can have my cake and eat it too? Without just skipping the battle? Since I'd like to do the party at the end of the Act. The one after the battle. (Playing good character and also Dark Urge)

I KIA her in Act 1 because I want to be a Hero. MG3 is truly a RPG.

I think you can recruit her by taking the "It's none of my business" approach and just not getting involved in the druid/goblin business. Not entirely sure on it tho.

Still wanna do the battle and after battle party tho lol.

Might just have to keep her around on the next playthrough.

Personally I think they should implement a proper outcome for knocking out Minthara during the battle or within the Selune ruins, which would actually progress her story and allow the player to meet her and save her at Moonrise for failing the Absolute.

That would make it far more interesting as a legitimate roleplay.

- In Act 1, after saving the humans that are outside of the grove, go strait to Minthara at the Goblin camp.
- Talk your way to meeting with Minthara and when she asks about the grove, choose the 3rd option and give her fragmented memories of the Druid Grove.
- Exit the conversation.
- Now leave and go strait for the Mountain Pass and straight to Act 2.
- Make your way to the Moonrise Temple.
- Save Minthara, however you choose
- Take the boat to the Last Light Inn.
- Talk to Minthara and have her meet you at the camp.
- Go to the camp and Recruit her.

You have the option to completely bypass Act 1, thus avoiding the Druid arc. After testing, it doesn't matter whether you help Minthara with the raid or bypass it, her base approval will be the same.

She'll remember and mention the night though, if you do help with the raid, however if it's too dark of a choice, then just skip to Act 2.

She's also mind frigged by the parasite. It's only when she's with you that she regains control of her mind. She's also a Drow. They have to be cruel to survive. Good-natured drows don't live long. They're often hunted. Unless you're Drizzt Do'Urden.

Absolutely this.

Thank you for this really easy to understand list of steps. Alas. I wanted to do the battle, so I guess I have to kill her. But in future good games I think ima skip this so I can recruit Minthara along with the others.

non lethal needs to have more use in general imo, it feels like an afterthought. I only found use for it a couple times in act 3, such as encountering minsc, you have to use non lethal attacks to recruit him, and second boss fight with the hag to avoid killing the child thats it.

This is correct. You can even get Halsin in the same party by breaking him out of prison after the Right of Thorns is completed, but before you enter Act 2.

Yeah, there seems to be no "having your cake and eat it option". Essentially you can knock her out with blunt weapons and then strip her of the lyre, but it doesnt seem to work.

Most of the sequences trying to recruit Minthara as a companion completely work on avoiding major arks of the storyline.

I just like her voice and comments, yes a bit dark. She is a kind of way cooler Lazael.
I also really dislike Wyll but think Karlach is fantastic. My hunch is that bit by bit Videos will come out which will not make me do 100+ hour play throughs for 1h worth of dialogue (and by that I don't mean the nsfw bit).

I saw one dark urge playthrough where minthara is on the table of Orin getting her eyes pierced. ...

If there ever was an "expand Minthara DLC" that would be cool.

Yeah absolutely. She is a much cooler version of Lae’zel. Ngl I kinda feel like the companions as a whole could’ve been better.

It feels like there was a bit of a missed opportunity with Minthara. Or maybe they just weren’t sure where to go with her character. Cause it feels a bit confused. On one hand you need to be evil to get her. On the other hand she ends up basically being a ‘good’ character once she gets out from the Absolutes influence.

It’s a strange contradictory conundrum and the only way to get her without losing your companions basically just seems to be “Ignore a large section of the story.”
