The quest log seems to have some bugs with it. It's told me contradictory information before about certain NPCs dying in ways they didn't or NPCs being dead when they weren't. I haven't seen any issue where the quest log causes a contradiction in what happens in the world though, it's just that the quest log is wrong.
Maybe you could look around for him? If you go to A2 and do some exploring you should be able to find out what happened to him in your world though.
Firstly: It would do very well if you would be able to articulate your issue in a logical form, in possibly a when you did what form, and also telling what were the resolution.
Because the i did Kaghas questline can have quite a few differences for instance.
You also do not mention a thing about the resolution of the saving the Thieflings which should be the "festival/party".
It is the Gith Creche most likely.
That advances the quest line even if you do not resolve it. You probably skipped the warning it issues when entering mountain pass. It is still part of ACT 1, but like an epilogue part, you also cannot return to all the other parts of ACT 1 once you step over there.
Another option is that you actually used the Grymforge elevator went up, again ignoring the warning, and just went down. Then yes you did actually enter the shadow cursed land.
The problem is your description is such an illogical hard to follow mess, that i can only make educated guesses of what went wrong in your game.
It would have helped if you did not use all those dot dot dot-s but instead wrote down in a step by step way.
