Bitter Divorce Wand question

I'm playing a slightly dickish wizard in my group campaign and I'm wondering something.
I ended up keeping the wand for myself as I find the idea of letting a grieving woman be alone with her zombie husband is a bad idea, probably resulting in her death. I chose to keep the wand (apparently its supposed to change into some marriage of whatever but it never did) I can summon her husband "Connor" as a zombie that works like a minion I can use in battle.
My question is IF Connor is actually killed in combat, I mean actually killed 0 HP, crit, radiant damage whatever you want. Will he stay dead forever meaning I can't summon him anymore? Or does the wand allow me to have a weakish zombie summon forever?
