Shadowheart romance?
Question about this. I read some guides, but the events described did not happen to me. So I freed the tieflings from both the druid grove and the tower (I have not yet completed the tower questline, but the rescue tieflings quest is done). There was never a "celebration" when doing a long rest after rescuing them and having Halsin in my camp. I did manage to get to a dialogue with Shadowheart that said we would get to know each other better later, when alone, but my next long rest didn't trigger anything, and no further dialogue with advances anything. So what exactly triggers the romance option with Shadowheart? I have the rest of my group falling over themselves to sleep with me, and I am rebuffing them left and right.

Gotta get towards the end of act 2 as she has a pretty big moment and she still makes you work for it until act 3.

As far as I have been able to determine, you don't actually need to do any specific things or dialogue choices to get them to a point where they actively pursue a romantic relationship with your character (or at least present you with that option) - you just have to get their affinity with your character to a certain level. I got Lae'zel's affinity to me maxed out pretty early on just by doing whats I does and she's like I want you so bad! LOL

Thanks! I am at the very end of chapter 2, so I am assuming the course of more than one relationship was altered when the full release dropped. Though since my camp is full of thirsty campers, I can't imagine which other's changed.

For real. It took all of like an hour of playtime to get Lae'zel hot and bothered. The romance system in this game is.... odd. At least with the pacing of it.

EDIT: Though Shadowheart isn't as easily swayed by approval ratings. She has been with me the entire time, and she approves of damn near everything I do.

Weird, I also freed the tieflings and druids.......from their mortal coils.

Shadowheart had plenty nice things to say to me. The systems are fine, you just need to have very specific interactions to convince them the things you are doing in game are the right things. Then they are totally on board.

I wouldn't say they are "fine"... but fair enough.

You gotta remember, just like DnD, your characters' stats will come into play during dialogues. the actions you've taken up to that point of a conversation, how many times you've talked to them, talking to them about their story arcs, talking to them about items you special items you find, having the character in party during certain interactions, your class dialogues etc etc.

All of those matter on how you can get a characters relation up faster or slower. Back in early access if you removed items...even potion or put too many items into a NPCs inventory they could get pissed at you. It used to be much MUCH more difficult to keep these people even from just leaving camp from a couple choices or even interactions between one another in camp/in the field.

I find it so much more balanced now than it used to be a few years ago. You just have to play around with choices and checks. If you like to save scum...then save scum. No one is judging you...it's YOUR game. I do it, and I give zero ♥♥♥♥♥ that I save scum. There will be SO many options on paths to pick in this game that most of us will more than likely run out interest in the game before we individually find ALL the options and choices.

Just have fun with the game and if you cant appease a specific NPC on your first play through, then don't worry too much you can always do another one.

Enjoy the game and have fun!

Uhhh...thanks? I bought this game on initial release in early access, but maybe your input will help others. I am just saying the relationship system feels off. You disagree; again, fair enough.
