Sex happens everywhere. I can't imagine a worse setting for sex than a deployed aircraft carrier, but several sailors got sent back early for getting preggers. Right after boot a lot of people were 'letting off steam' too. M/f, f/f, m/m, whatever combo you could think of.

Several straight sailors mentioned how they were questioning their own sexuality at times, one even asked me how to get 'gay married' so they could defraud the gov't for the bennies. (My advice was to not do that, not just because it's illegal, but because a convenience marriage is sure to end poorly.)

And yeah, marriage matters. If I were to be injured or killed, I would have wanted my husband to be notified. That doesn't happen with flings. I'd also have wanted him to be able to visit me in the hospital, even if I was unresponsive.

Anyways, sex is both common and impossible to achieve depending on your perspective. Also had an incel-type mechanic I worked with on deployment, always whined about how he'd never find a gf, sex, or marriage. I had the latter two, but I'm pretty sure he wasn't eager to get married to a dude.

There were just people, and most men up until a few centuries ago from our historical records didn't enjoy having sex with their wives; they slept with a mistress for enjoyment and their wife for offspring. So, we can surmise from this that human sexuality has improved, rather than degraded, over time. Glad we agree on this and that there is no "decline of the West" happening. There's just a few people really upset about the private sex lives of others, which is more a sign that we still have progress to make in terms of personal freedom and sexual liberation.

No, it hasn't. It's become unhealthy on a psychological and emotional level, with the invention of the birth control which created the adult entertainment industry as we know it in modern times. Human sex trafficking is also at an all time high, just because there's more humans to exploit sexually than ever before. Wow, "adult entertainment" is the oldest part of human markets. This isn't anything new.
