Dawnmaster buff bugged?

I'm now in Act 3, and I somehow disbanded Karlach and re-added her. And out of nowhere, the dawnmaster buff (+1d4 dmg), which was gone a long time ago, came back to her.

I tried it on other teammates and it re-applied as well. The question is, what is this mechanic? Can I re-apply it on myself as well?

I'm near exact on the same boat. I'm on Act 2, and that buff re-applied itself after disbanding and re-adding 2 characters into the party.
Besides that, how do we get this buff in the first place? I wonder if it isn't related to Shadowheart's legendary weapon from 'Blood of Lathander'.

I think you put those ceremonial weapons on those plates, in the church/cathedral (not sure in which way it is called since my game is not in English), where you got the ceremonial crown.
When you finish, you got the buff.
Someone told me that you can also re-trigger it by re-putting weapons on those plates:
