sneak attack rules
Short question.

Are daggers still the weapon with the highest sneak attack damage multiplier?

Or can you even sneak attack with a longsword as long as you can wield it and it doesn't matter anymore?

And is this a thing? ->
Rogue Level Sneak Attack Damage
1 – 2 1d6
3 – 4 2d6
5 – 6 3d6
7 – 8 4d6
9 – 10 5d6
11 – 12 6d6

And ranged not throwing.

Damage increases by 1d6 for every uneven Rogue Level gained. So your table is correct. Number of dices double on a critical hit, there are some tadpole powers that allow you to transform any hit in a critical, which would translate in 12d6 at level 11, which is an average of 42 damage. You might want to take that.

In tabletop, sneak attack damage is a separate roll from your weapon's damage. I believe BG3 has stuck with that, from my experience with Astarion. Iirc sneak attack can only work with Dex weapons.

Sneak attack is just added on your weapon dmg like: d6 shortsword + 2 + 5 dex + 5d6 sneak = 28 dmg

Compared to fighters who can burst up to 240 dmg or make constant 175 dmg later on a rogue is a joke dmg wise.

ah okay, dex weapon.

But would there be a different damage multiplier if I use a shortsword over a dagger?

thx for the answers

No, the damage from sneak attack will be a 2d6 regardless of what weapon you have.

Dagger Base: 1d4 Pierce
Shortsword: 1d6 Pierce

Dagger Sneak Attack: Base 1d4 Pierce + 2d6 Sneak Attack
Shortsword Sneak Attack: Base 1d6 Pierce + 2d6 Sneak Attack

Well, I believe these inflated damage numbers when I see them on my screen. The highest damage I saw scored was by a rogue who did about 80-90 damage.

there is no damage multiplayer. Its only added. So base dagger dmg + sneak attack damage or base short sword damage + sneak attack damage. Only finese or ranged weapons apply.

Melee - Sneak Attack only works with Finesse Type Weapons like Daggers, Shortswords and Rapiers
Longswords are not Finesse. They Are Versatile, which means they can be wielded with one or two hands dealing either 1D8 or 1D10 Dmg.

Of the mentioned Finesse Weapons the Rapier is the highest Base Dmg with 1D8
(Dagger 1D4 and Shortsword 1D8)

That being said there is absolutely no difference for the sneak attack damage no matter what you wield out of the 3. There is no such thing as a Modifier by Weapons itself.

Yes your Sneak Attack Dmg Dice get more with higher Rogue Level.

And they do it while they push people around, knock them down, disarm, buff allies movespeed, etc...

Pure fighters are beastly.

There are a few finesse longsword, only awkward is that two handed sneak attack animation are bugged with them (damage work fine), but if you TWF everything is fine

Oh thank you very much, never looked at longswords, thought there are no finesse ones

There is a longsword with the finesse property. You find it in the underdark. It's name is Phalar Aluve and that's one of its unique properties.

How can a warrior make constant 175 damage???

Even with 4 attacks there is absolutely no way you can achieve 175 damage in 4 attacks (also, he said constantly, and as far as I know, action surge you can only use once)

I'm calling it bs.
