Can you give an example, pls? I didn't have that feeling, but maybe I didn' do the quests, you have in mind.
Fix'd
A few example from my side :
The Fireworks quest : You go to the shop, there is a mass conspiracy, but ... just kill everyone. You don't know why they do that, who the boss was
Minsc ... Finding the thieve guild is near impossible : the quest marker is not placed correctly, so you have no idea what to do to get in. The sewer contains one of the most stupid puzzle ever : the Valve Puzzle. And it is a pain to move through those sewer
Dribble the clown ... what is the point of recovering his body !!!!, same with the lottery djinn
Orin / killer quest, very clunky
I didn't do the children rescue quest for the Gur, but appaently it sucks a lot too.
There is good stuff, I care about the character quests but random stuff for the sake of random, no. At that point in the stroy, Heroes have better thing to do than randomly save cats.
I compare act 1 & 2 to BG1&2 : Your character have a problem, he tries to resolve it and to survive to by doing some jobs.
Act 3 should have been like Throne of Bhaal : Things goes kaboom, and the side quest are rarer and linked to the main quest, because the resolution is near.
Yeah, it's weird to say, but there is too much things in act 3, in the sense you don't know what is 'main' and what is 'filler'. And it sucks spending hours on a quest just to have a new hat or 50 gold when you want to see the end of the story.
What I'm trying to say is that Act 3 lost consistency and story direction and just trying to cram everything in your face at once and that is never good. You don't want to overwhelm players with sh*tloads of objectives that require you to run through Upper cities and Deep dungeons just to complete one small task. A good example is Dribble Quest. You need to find dead clowns' body parts scattered around the Baldur's Gate and my thought was like.. Who in the hells needed his body parts and completely forgot about them and just left them somewhere randomly in the city. And basically you have the entirety of these quest that make no sense. Felt like I was back at DoS 1.
I don't know what game have you played to say that bg3 isn't epic fantasy.
Jesus just act 2 alone end is one of the most epic thing that comes to mind.
I agree, forgot about those and didn't know the 2nd is a quest. But overall I enjoeyed act 3, too. Act 1 is overwhelming and by far one of the best experiences in Video games I ever made. Act 3 is still a very, very good game imho
I quite find stupid in this game that anyway every shopkeeper have purple gear to sell and that droped gear apart some specific are useless.
Cause it's not an overall bad game.
It's an unfinished game (after 3 years of EA and 6 years dev)
I still find solasta way better.
But it doesn't feel as important.
I've got to the point where there's a couple of different ways the story could branch depending on what I do. And I'm not really interested in doing either.
I find myself looking for side quests to do because I've just become a bit bored with the main story arc and not really wanting to pursue a resolution to that.
