[Act 2] You can ____ Isobel
In act 2 when you're getting attacked Isobel doesn't need to die in the first turn.
If you're lucky and get decent initiation rolls, you can manage to save her, plus if you have Shadowheart or Cleric they have a spell which makes a target immune to damage as long as they don't attack.

I though her death was defaul due to it happening before my turn but it ain't the case.

yeah, i saved her and then i killed her because dark urge demanded it. dialog with jaheira afterwards changed too.

unforuntaley even if you kill her yourself after marcus and ghouls are gone you're still gonna see some winged creature carry her off and meet her later at the absolute place so it's bad story design

i feel so bad for people who's luck is so terrible that she gets absolutely annihilated before they can make a move

Oh that fight was hard I savedscummed allot. Like I barricaded the doors. Cast blindness. Reinforced armors, throwing potions. Like if I have to do it again, I would the side quest first and level up.

I think there are YouTube videos now on how to keep her safe.

And yes sanctuary is a god send

Yeah, I tought it was forced by devs since I restarted the fight 3 times and everytime she died

It all depends on your initiate rolls.
I had no problem defending her at all since my team have good initiations

When BG3 first dropped she was immediately destroyed first round on my playthrough and that introduced a ton of bugs. I only found out 10 hours later that allowing this to happen to Isobel causes a bunch of npc's to think everyone is still alive when their guts are all over the place, effectively destroying my run.

Unless they fixed it, everyone should be save scrubbing this encounter to prevent her being knocked out or be at risk for an incredibly broken later half.

For me it was the other way around - in a second playthrough I had different "conditions" in that location - and because of that, she died for the very first time as all the enemies rushed to her without much resistance.

Didn't see that coming, especially as the next fireball would have solved that quite nicely o,O.

I had no problems defending her either, my team has a good initiative, Astarion is always the first to move and can cause some serious damage to the Marcus guy before he can get close

The others slaughtered the demons pretty easily

Watching a bunch of you finally play a game with a story is amazing. It's like watching a baby walk for the first time. You got it Timmy, you got it! You're almost there! Keep going!

Now why would you need to write something that rude?

There is such a thing as hardcoded events in cRPGs to bring the story further. If players encounter the sudden stop of the fight because of one death they could very well have the impression this is the only outcome. (e.g. to force the player towards the main mission goal and not mingle at Last Light - in an act of vengeance, so to speak). After all the whole map is about getting attacked from all sides and always be on the move.

I just had the "luck" to witness that she can be saved - and by doing so that was a combat like every other in the game. If you loose though, the game doesn't let you play through the combat. So that is some new situation.

First time getting to her: Oh, that is what the people were writing about in the steam thread..single digits HP remaining after first round and I was unprepared (not much healing/buffing left I could give). Result: She died at the start of second round and that Marcus guy took her away.

Second time: I am prepared! She still gets a lot of damage at the start of the battle, but I am able to heal and buff her and even got that Marcus guy stunned. What happens next? She runs out of the room, all of the enemies swarm her and kill her in the next round :/

Third time: Got lucky with Marcus again, even killed him after my rouge and fighter got some nice crits in! Threw a firebomb at the entrance which made her stay in the room (and even deal some damage) and which made some enemies attack NPCs instead of coming to get her.(A bit silly considering they are flying) Managed to save her finally. Only weird thing: After killing Marcus, he just lost his wings(at least visually) and lays there sleeping with 0 HP. After a rest he was just gone....

Games full of RNG. Some lucky hits and crits can take her out in the first or second round. You really need to prioritize making her immune to damage to avoid risking it.
