So am I on a time limit with Nere?

Just arrived at the Grymforge and if I try and leave to resolve some quests elsewhere, I get a cutscene about Nere dying of poison. So it seems like I can't leave until I do something about that, can't even go to camp to swap out party members as I get the same warning.

So far it seems you must not reach the Forge or get out of the Area but you can rest as many as you want

I had the same problem; my characters were hurt and I had no rests left; if I did a long rest at that point the situation would resolve itself (I tried it out). I think after you get his first mental message you have around 1-2 long rests.

I had to resolve it by breaking the wall, running away, then position my party in more advantageous places and start the fight from there. I barely survived in the end, but it was still a lot of fun.

i can confirm you can rest once without issues. (maybe more but i havent actually tried)

you can't leave the zone with the boat or the elevator though.

just do the whole place in one session with 1 long rest somewhere in there and youre for sure gonna be fine.

oh...I ignored that, when I was ready he was already dead. figured he wasn't going to live once I took his head anyway /shrug

Except for few loots from Duergar you possibly can genocide. None.

I didn't care about him die or not, but I cared about the gnomes in there with him. So.. He died just the same though -)

Ok cool, good to know. Astarion is my main trap disarmer and I didn't have anyone with tools in my current party.
