How do i drop a lit torch for dip weapon?

Every time I drop a torch it goes out no option to light it up. Yet I see players using lit torches for adding fire to weapons.

I once threw a torch, but it did not go out. I don't know what the secret is. It would be interesting to know what's going on.

use a candle...light it up by clicking it then dip all you want

Found out it has to be the equipped one in light slot, not one from your backpack...makes sense.
