my team is ranger, rogue, fighter, barb lol
The strongest two spells consistently though I've found are Haste and Slow. Haste turns long fights into short fights and Slow turns tough fights into fights that are as easy as fighting goblins.
I'm also a big fan of control spells. Plantgrowth is a strong one that has won me a few fights especially since its concentration free so I can drop it down and concentrate on another spell. Either lock foes in the plants with hunger of Hadar or something else.
I run full ranged parties most the time, but I'll get into melee because its fun. not because its optimal, because it most certainly is not. If you're wondering about range being frail in melee. Don't be. My lowest AC character PC is my warlock at 19 AC and she's Fey pact so if she gets hit she vanishes plus I have Armor of Agathys so most enemies that get to her are dead or die shortly after hitting her.
Eldritch blast is cracked. With the armor I have once I have lighting charges its 1d10+6+6+7+6 per beam. Add Haste in the mix thanks to Pact of the Tome and enemies with 120 health are almost certain to die. She can Nova pretty hard but someone else has to give her haste to do that.
Any spell that adds bodies has been really helpful. Less so in Act 3 since I'm mostly fighting small groups that crumble to my Warlock and Ranger/Rogue. With my Druid giving haste through spores as well and providing support. Late game gets pretty wild with what you can do.
Another spell I keep coming back to is moon beam. Works especially well with haste. Similarly, Cloud Kill has been surprisingly good.
lol
I mean, there are also Shield and Mage Armor. But you are playing your caster wrong if you do not have them.
as can rogue (Arcane Trickster) and fighter (Eldritch Knight) if so chosen.
spirt guardians (im a cleric and i also have shadowheart so double cleric action going on)
recently owl bear
fae summon
firebolt
the name "explosive satchel" gave me baldur's gate dark alliance 2 flashbacks.
This is basically how I managed to kill the demon in the shar temple on round 1. (inspired by
his own tactics lol)
Personally, I've been using a lot of Enhance Jump and Feather Fall, and Guidance. And of course Detect thoughts.
Bless, bless is always very strong
For awhile I was loving ray of frost with some of the stacking benefits to using frost damage.
Maybe overkill (and...kinda wrong for her) but I've been having Shadowheart cast Daylight on someone regularly which has been actually helpful and made seeing objects in dark dungeons easier.
Honestly I'm playing as Gale and I have so many ritual spells and long lasting buffs I don't have much room for combat spells.
Haste - seeing the big damage boost on level 5 cause of this
scorching ray - really good to cut through unstoppable stacks
having them and using them is different :P
pretty much the only "spell" i use is true strike and that's a cantrip. doesn't use any of my spell points.
i have entangling shot but i haven't used it once in my 80hours so far lol
also only long rested 3 items so far and im in the shadow cursed lands. tactician isnt hard enough.
also my rogues an assasin not a trickster so i have no spells lol (level 6)
I have NEVER used bless so far in the game:D
I did a few times in early access, but since everyone went for Shadowheart and she lost conci all the time i did not bother:) And made plans without bless:D
