Game keeps crashing my graphic card?
Hey, how's it going? As the title says, I recently ran into this problem, where the game seems to crash my graphic card? I play for a while, sometimes a few hours, sometimes just a few minutes, and afterwards my monitor automatically goes dark and it tells me "no input found", which surprises me, given the first session i played i was able to play for hours without a problem. I already downgraded from ultra to medium, yet the issue persists. It shouldn't be because of my pc, given i just bought a new relatively decent gaming pc last winter (IntelCore i5-10600K Prozessor, MSI Z490-A PRO, 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4, Nvidia RTX 3070). Also downloaded and installed latest drivers. Not sure what causes the issue. Any ideas/suggestions how to fix it?

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but driver issues aside, that's generally sign something in your computer is about to die permanently for whatever reason (being new doesn't mean an hardware component is not faulty from production).

If you have an IT friend, I highly suggest you get him/her over to check it out. I'd start with checking the PSU (power supply unit) as overheating does not seem to be the issue (you can play random amount of times).

dont listen to this stupid ♥♥♥♥ about your hardware, a huge amount of people have the same iissue. Im playing 3 other games and only BG3 cause same ♥♥♥♥ as for you or device lost error, its started after hotfix #3, and still no answer how to deal with it

I have run into the same issue with similar system. Everything else run fine on my pc as well as other games. Just BG3 that keep s causing it to crash it seems like within 5-15 minutes.

+1 same issue, Ryzen r5 3600,gtx1650+32g ram,only play bg3 higher chance black screen and shutdown...fell so bad:steamsad:
It does this to me too, something related to HDR, I think. What you can do to fix it is to:
1. alt-tab to something other than the game,
2. press Winkey+Alt+B to toggle HDR,
3. wait for your screen to get fixed,
4. press Winkey+Alt+B again to toggle HDR,
5. alt-tab back to the game

Hope this helps

Try other games to see if it is a hardware issue.
Don't think it has anything to do with hardware issues other than the normal "every windows machine has slightly different hardware and software combinations"

The game has HDR issues which appear to have only started on launch. Probably bugs resulting from adding HDR to Vulkan just for launch and exacerbated if you change the game's HDR calibration away from default

i have the same problem exactly as you described. I also have an rtx 3070. Tried rolling back the drivers as well, nothing has worked. Have you found a solution?

what I have found is that the game seems to use a lot of GPU and overheating is what disconnects the driver. checking temperatures is recommended.

So I've been tracking my temps and the hottest it gets is during character creation where its around 80. Combat is around 50, dialogue is somewhere in between. I don't think its fair to say its an overheating issue when people have tried lowering graphic settings and get the same issue. Of course its using a lot of the GPU but our GPUs are built to handle that.

Put hw-info and look at the 12 volt line if it drops to 11.5 then the power supply should be replaced, the black screen is a protection against high pulsations of the power supply. I have the same problem, reduced the video card Power limit by 20 percent and the crashes stopped.

Stress test all your hardware with OCCT

Oh be quiet, if there was a "huge" amount there wouldn't be overwhelmingly positive reviews. Cry more

Some games tolerate overclocks much better than others, try defaulting some stuff and testing. Or if you run MSI afterburner set your temp threshold to 80c and leave the power limit on highest. You will never overheat ever.

Maybe use DDU and do a full fresh install of your drivers.

I'm using a I7 6700k with a RTX 3700 16bg RAM , all overclocked and running fine with the latest drivers. I average from 110fps to 240 ( capped ) with DLSS on 1080p Ultra
