So only orange notes and books will be quest related? All white books and notes just sell?
Ending up selling them.
Still holding to the Illithid stuff from the Nautiloid though.
Yea that is what I was afraid of. that some of those unsent letter etc. will provide some extra stuff since we might meet some of the npc later that those lost or unsent letter was intended for.
I am also an item hoarder haha. I also went for bard on my first playthrough so my str is low and weight capacity therefore also low. I usually let my fighter carry most gear loot to sell while adventuring but books and notes stayed with me.
But maybe I might end up just selling since it is getting annoying to keep managing them haha.
I'm more miffed about the rope I was lumbering around which ended up not having any use, haha
Not exactly. Once you read them you can safely sell the white notes/books. There are white notes and books that unlock quests or insight into other quests you're currently doing.
As a rule of thumb "read" every book/note(i.e. open them, close them and then junk 'em).
The orange notes/books you need to keep for quests. For example early in you can get an orange note/treasure hunt which implies you need to find a treasure and return it and the note back to the person in Baldur's Gate.
Making a mental note to ditch that rope... it sounded useful at the time.
Additionally, after selling some of those letters, I've run into NPCs with the same name (e.g., a love letter on a corpse addressed to the bard Quill who runs the music shop in BG in Act 3). I might be able to find the letter and buy it back. So if I can, I will try to bring it to him and see if there is a dialogue I can unlock or not.
Read and sell.
