cruel sting + heavy weapon mastery working ?

So my character is using cruel sting as a 2h weapon, does that now make it work with heavy weapon mastery or not ? because dmg wise cruel sting deals like 5 or 6 dmg more then the other real heavy weapon are dealing so I rather respecc to something else if heavy weapon mastery isn't working on it because I really wanna use it

Do you mean Great Weapon Master? Yes it works with Versatile weapons when wielded with both hands.

My barb was using the adamantine longsword with gwm for a long time if it's a versatile weapon it can be used in 1 or 2 hands.

Yeah been using great weapon mastery on dex monk
