I want to do a archer / dual wield playthrough. Now im new to this game so i dunno what class is best. Can you guys tell me the differences...

I might want so magic support.
Can rogue or ranger do decent damage?
Is the rogue or ranger more versatile?
Which does most dps?
Which has best armor ?

In my opinion, the correct answer is both.

Ranger. You don't have to stealth as much, you can get heavy armor proficiency if you have a Dragonslayer fantasy in mind and has multiattack for dual-wielding. Ranger also has some interesting spells.

you can also make a fighter into a good archer by going DEX instead of STR and picking all the archery feats. if you went 16DEX, 14INT 14CON then picked the Eldritch Knight sub class at level 3 you'd also be decent at throwing a few spells about too.

Rangogue.

Do you care about Stealth? If yes, Rogue. If no, Ranger.

Gloomstalker is basically both. Non-Gloomstalker Rangers are trash, though; play a Dex fighter instead.

Ranger has the most versatility of the two, and if you have little interest in stealth then ranger is probably better. More fighting styles and has a little bit of spells to use.
Rogue might pull off more damage through crits and sneak attack triggers, but they tend to be a tad more fragile. Stealth helps with that however if that's something you value. I don't so I rarely use a rogue.

Rangers, Bards & monks can be just as good at stealth as Rogues

Ranger for more attacks and variablity (spells), rouge for higher single damage. There is of cause also the option for multiclass, which works allright IMO.

going ranger kinight for heavy armour is for melee rangers that dont use finese weapons, where you stack STR instead of DEX. DEX based chars don't get any benefit from heavy armour, they're better wearing medium or light.

This is incorrect, don't listen to this. Played a dual wield ranger in heavy armor and a feat for one handed weapons as the dual wield, can kick ass, just like being a person with a bow can work great. Can also have pet animals too. Those choices work just fine.
Too many people on this forum have a massive problem of not liking a class/sub class and thus call it garbage when it's not and it's just their personal preference.

yeah but I think he is meaning that in terms of sneak attack damage.

i picked rogue (Astarion) for my 1 PT and i was scared that rogue sucks but MAN, SHES SO STRONG, when you use short sword and dagger in second hand you will deal a lot of dmg, when you get second additional action you can Attack with main hand and then do double offhand attack, + she have reactions that will also hit a lot. And now i found a ring that deals +2 toxic dmg to eatch attack, im so happy with rogue

Rogues have good damage and make excellent skill monkeys. By level 11, you never roll below a 10 for skills you're proficient in.
