[SPOILERS] ACT 3 performance is atrocious.
Disclaimer: I am aware that not everyone will have the same performance issues I am having. But I know I am not alone in ACT 3s performance issues.

So it was mostly fine at wyrms crossing and the beginning of ACT 3, but now that I am in the lower city again, the same lag as before has arrived.

Only its not frame lag. Its latency. Companions that normally follow on quickly sometimes take 30 seconds to get to your location. Almost as if the game is pinging the PC location with a delay, so the companions don't register your movement. And then when they do, they rubberband as if they're on some new form of difficult terrain.

In combat, the actions are massively delayed with at least 5 seconds lerp, combat in turn takes 5x longer to complete when its just 4 enemies. (Emperors old hideout as an example)

Lowering the settings doesn't seem to help. Switching to DLSS Performance doesn't seem to help, lowering as many settings as possible without losing fidelity doesn't seem to help.

i7 10700k @ 4.2Ghz
16 GB Ram (DDR4)
RTX 3070 TI (8GB)
Storage; M.2 1TB

Settings;
Everything maxed out, except shadows and fog and anything volumetric.
res 1080p not 4k.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix the processing lag? I've set it to high priority as some have suggested but its ultimately becoming unplayable, I cant just play all day waiting for the game to catch up with my inputs, I have things to do lol

I reassure you, you're not alone on that boat.

There is no miracle solution as far as I can tell, couldn't find any myself.

Hopefully Larian will adress/fix/improve this in later patches. But yes, act 3 is basically a stutter fest/ frame drops once you hit the city, there's so much interiors and npcs processed at the same time any computer will struggle, this is just a lack of optimization on Larian part.

*sigh* which is just sad really isn't it.

I am fairly critical of the game and I do not give it the praise others do, purely because I see too many glaring issues with it and I view it as just another generic CRPG but at least a good one relatively. (not game of the decade or something)

However one thing I did think highly of it for was its performance, given the high fidelity of the game. But this lack of optimisation in ACT 3 does a disservice to the rest of the game because the performance was stellar.

I'm right with you.

Honestly that just raises my suspicions that they did push the release forward cause " it was ready " but just to avoid the competition with Starfield. The game could have used the 30 more days in the oven for more polish.

I just decided to reroll other characters and progress them to the same point of the story. Because as it stands now, this is barely playable for me.

Yeah. That's the irony though isn't it? because I am just going to take a break from the game now until its fixed and Starfield and armoured core 6 for me are up next.

Still weary of Starfield because of bethesda. However I have no doubts AC6 is going to be an absolute blast.

Act1 is well optimised and game optimisation nosedives after that. It's the Larian way, DOS2 was that same. Nothing could be done except waiting for patches.

At least you can get there, my game keeps crashing after 10 minutes in the end of ACT II.

I had weird delays in act 3 as well. Besides the long time it took for enemies to take their turns things would happen like the attack animation playing and then several seconds later the enemy would react. All the performance issues in act 3 seem like a CPU bottleneck to me.

I mean I'm largely fine, but I have a powerful PC.
It is a giant city scape with a ton of moving people and parts all over the place. You can have that and a bit of performance problems, or a ton of cut off sections and more loading screens. Those are usually the choices.

I would agree if the visual fidelity and quality of the game is high enough to warrant that and it was a next gen game. But its really not. The visual quality is equal to that of the witch 3. A lot of the spaces you can enter don't fully render in, until half a second before you open a door. The details of a character from the high in the sky camera angle don't fully render in the characters anyway which you can tell because when you talk to someone in the city, you see the details of their face render in sometimes, meaning they aren't always there. If all details of all things you can see were fully rendered in, in real time then you'd have a point.

There really isn't an excuse for the lack of performance in ACT 3. The game itself isn't revolutionary graphically and my computer can handle just about anything and does so perfectly fine in virtually every other game.
Act III is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terrible, I got to the Morphic Pool and the game softlocked me from completing it by not playing a single cinematic, and now I think my save file got corrupted meaning I'd have to start over, effectively ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wasting 60 hours.

BEYOND disappointed.

You people that comment that this game isn't insane in it's graphical fidelity baffle me. This is one of the most gorgeous games I've seen. Absolute top tier? No, but it's GORGEOUS all the same.
Some of you have some weird ass standards. If your computer can't handle this game, I wouldn't bother with anything that is "better" than this game.

Yep, I literally cannot play the game like this because it gives me a headache. I was totally addicted to this game and now I can't stand playing it after a few seconds. Sucks all the fun right out of it. Very, very frustrating. Sure would like some word from Larian on this.
HEY WAKIE WAKIE ITS TIME FOR A NEW PC
HBTX 5090TI SLI SHOULD DO JUST FINE FOR FULL HD RESOLUTION IF PAIRED WITH INTEL I10-17900K
AND WHATS WITH 16 GB OF RAM MY DUDE? SHAMEFUL
