How to give a gift?
So on the approval wiki it says we can give gifts.
it says "Players can also offer gifts or complete favors for your companions to improve approval ratings, paying attention to their specific interests or desires for more effective gift giving."

Are these anything? Like a necklace or a ring? Or are they specific to the cpmanion, like a sword for wyll and a shar artifact to shadowheart?

Fextralife's wiki is filled with errors like this. There might be a few specific examples for companions (like the book of Thay) but generally I wouldn't assume its accurate.

nha its specific things related to character.

exemple if you romance shadowheart she tell you she likes a specific flower. if you find it you can talk to her and give it to her and she will be please and thats gonna boost her aproval.

Not sure You're looking at the right site, You CAN give a gift to Shadowheart, but it is a one time thing and it is a very specific item she tells You about when You progress a romance with her. Dunno about other companions, I didn't really touch their romances aside from Shadowheart and Karlah. I think You can give a necromancy book to Astarion or Gale.

I did not play EA, and have never heard of this in-game since release.

I would assume it is erroneous until proven otherwise. In the wiki from the EA phase are bound to be many things that are changed in the full release.

Its not a common thing, but shadowheart had a few lines about stuff she liked or always wanted to see. And if you happen to find that thing you can give it to her for a little approval. But there is not like a gifting system.

It's copy/paste mistake from the DOS wiki.

The only gift I've given was to Edge Elf and it appeared in a dialogue.

On my previous play through I gave an Idol of Selune to either Jaheira or Shadowheart (I think the former more likely). It was in Act 3 in camp, after I gotten Minsc to join. There was some dialog that occurred from it. She was not a love interest as that was Karlach. I'm doing another run and trying to get the details.

gift is specific event trigger

Astarion: your blood, Necromancy of Thay
Shadowheart: Idol of Shar, A flower
Lazel: I think the Silversword count, dont remember
Gale: Necromancy of Thay

anyway. those are often one time thing

You can actually give two gifts to Shadowheart. You can give her the flower, and you can also give her an idol of Shar.

I have tried to give the idol of Selune to Shadowheart. I figured there should be some way to do it, because you can give her the idol of Shar. But I was not able to get any option to give Selune to her.
