Turn undead question

I remember in the older DnD games Turn Undead had a chance to outright destroy undead enemies. Is that still possible in BG3? Because whenever I use it the enemies just run away.

Whenever I use it it nukes almost all of them to the point I wonder if it is bugged as it seems quite busted

in 5e it can only destroy extremely weak undead, which you won't see much of in BG3.
