If you spent 30 hours on act 1, I'll bet there are still things you missed. It took me about 25 hours to clear act 1 on my 1st time through. This time I'm at about 25 hours as well, but I'm finding a ton of lore that I missed the first time around. I'll probably spend another 5-7 hours simply exploring making sure I didn't miss stuff. And this is AFTER i've already done it once. If I were trying to be this thorough on my 1st time, I could see it taking 40ish hours.

I know 30h is easily possible if focussed on main quest, but you just sound stupid.

if i was only doing main quest i could have done grymforge in 1 hour or less idk what you guys are doing...just look at the map and fill in the black space youll find everything its not hard

Eh, I was at 100 hours played since launch before entering act 2, including 2 restarts.

I believe I found everything there was to find in Act 1 and finished it with level 6, which was useful because the first mobs in the mountain pass were those level 6 undeads with 2 skellies that have a full HP res undead cantrip. I had to go ham with fireball, spirit guardians and taking down both skellies at the same time.

Are you sure you actually did everything? Talk to every corpse, talk to every animal? Get all the buried treasure? Loot all the stuff? Find the hidden items and nooks and crannies? Read the lore books? Do all the companion dialogues?

I'm thinking you missed a lot more than you think you did or skipped through a bunch of dialogue/ended dialogue early. Even knowing everything I need to do it still took me more than 20 hours for act 1, there is just so much running and so many areas to go to and get things from.

I could understand if you just run from quest waypoint to quest waypoint, but there is far more than that in the game and I wouldn't say doing that is "literally everything".

Question is why does it even matter? I'm playing with a whole bunch of people (got several campaigns on the go) and none of them are close to done with act 1. People want to enjoy the story, really dig around everywhere and socialise like we are playing at an actual D&D table.

Time spent on a game shouldn't be used as any kind of metric ever. There's been plenty of games I've played where I've wanted it to end and stopped having fun long before the credits rolled.

I'm super methodical. I am 30 hours in an have only done The Crypt, The Hag, and The Grove, nothing else.

I scan every environment with my mouse.

I wander to every edge of the map.

I open every chest, vase, crate, trunk, etc.

I read every book.

I try to talk to every corpse.

I have multiple chats with the same NPC to see if anything changes/to see everything they say.

I check every NPC inventory to see if I want to steal from them.

I sneak around a lot stealing things, that takes some time sometimes.

I purchase things from every NPC.

I collect every item I think will be of value and send it to my camp, then spent a lot of time organizing all of it. I.E. I'm a hoarder.

I scavenge for every ingredient.

During battle, I read every enemies "Examine" and try to study their stats.

I have respecced and spent hours learning what each class does (not a DnD player, so it's all new to me).

If an NPC or item looks like it should do something else, but isn't, I will try to see if there's anything I can do to trigger some kind of event. I mean, you never know until you know.

I spent too much time fiddling with my Graphics settings.

I'm super picky about my hotbar and inventory, so I sort that stuff a lot.

I like to scan around with the camera before coming up to something that looks like it'll be a mission/cutscene/dialogue, then I traverse an entire scouting party around the area in order to see what may be around. Then I engage, this can take time.

After engaging, I'll scan the surrounding area again to see if anything has changed.

During dialogue, I carefully consider my options before answering (if the conversation was realtime people would think my Druid is mentally unable with how slow these conversations go). I don't rush through any dialogues either (obviously).

There's a lot of reasons someone can spend a lot of hours in a game.
I do know I'm gonna get my $60 worth out of this game.

Have you any idea how long it takes to find all the burrows in Act 1 and then get the spell to enable you to go explore them?

Treat like a story . . not a speed run achievement.

♥shadowheart's♥foot♥slave, did you find the mermen settlement, became their god, found all six mithril ingots?
Adam__86 Aug 13, 2023 @ 7:59am
48 hours still Act 1

OP translation of what they're actually trying to say but are too afraid to type it out:
Why are you people so slow at this game? Because I'm such a pro player, I finished the first act in the average time it takes anyone who skips through all the cut scenes, skipped all story dialog, read zero books, interacted with the minimal amount of NPCs, and completed less than 25% of the side quests. Get on my level scrubs.

Don't be afraid to say what you mean. That is the path of a coward.

The better question is - why do you care how long/short it takes others in a single player/coop game? Stop seeking praise and admiration for your "speed run" ("Oh wow, how did you do it so fast brah???"). No one cares how fast you sped through the game, just like you shouldn't care how slow others play it. This isn't a kindergarden speed competition - grow the ♥♥♥♥ up kid.

i gtg back cuz i missed underdark.
but yeah i read/pick up/loot every possible box.
i was so relieved when the creche had barely any loot in it. But yeah a lot of backtracking for every quest/sell/loot.
I like to do everything and make sure no quest is left undone.
I'm 29h in even tho it says act 1 complete cuz i accidentally went ahead.
Probably be 40h when underdark is done.

I mean are u meant to be lvl 7 before act 2? Im 7. And got like 10k gold despite buying all the blue armors n weapons i could find xD.
