shadowheart artefact inventory bug (no spoilers pls)
so, i looked it up and it seems i am not the only one having this issue right now.

Here's the issue: (as spoilerfree as possible)

If you start a new game and look at Shadowhearts inventory, the artefact that she is carrying does not have the "bound" property. (Someone claimed the artefact should have that, i dont know if that is true or not)

because of this, the moment you dismiss her from your party (either by sending her back to camp or if she dies) the artefact suddenly appears in my inventory (player character).
now it has the "bound" property and i cant give it back to her or anyone else.

this can happen as soon as she joins you at the beach.
she also doesnt react at all that the artefact has left her inventory.

there where some wierd scenes as well. (possible spoilers here for act 1)
i have not been to the goblin camp yet, i have read that there is supposed to be a cutscene were the artefact gets transfered over to my character? dont know how this will play out because the artefact is already in my inventory.
however, i did meet the githyanki soldiers and shadowheart was not in my party. i got a cutscene where they were talking about how that thing somehow keeps them save (thats the point where i skipped all diaologue and reloaded because i dont think i was supposed to hear that.
i think that cutscene came because i got stuck with that artefact in my inventory instead of in shadowhearts.

so, would be nice if anyone can clear this issue up.

- is it a bug that everytime you dismiss shadowheart the artefact gets transfered to your inventory and "bound" without a cutscene or diaologue whatsoever?
- is the questline screwed up because of this? because like i said in the spoiler i think i got to see a cutscene i shouldnt have at that point.
- i discovered a way to give the artefact the "bound" property while it is still in shadowhearts inventory: (no idea if that screws up the quest though and prevents me from getting the artefact after that one cutscene.)
1. select shadowheart and open her inventory (not in camp)
2. rightclick the artefact and drop in on the ground
3. pick it back up with shadowheart -> now it has the "bound" property and is in shadowhearts inventory, not in my player characters.

Not a bug. It's supposed to go to you if you dismiss her.

with no explanation from anyone what happened whatsoever? i only got the pop up window that said "item recieved: mysterious artefact". no mention of it in diaologue whatsever.
no one mentions this in the party either, not even shadowheart (which is wierd considering how important that thing seems to be for her).
i can ask her about the artefact "she is carrying" and that diaologue still plays as if it was in her possession, not mine.

Keep playing and you will find out why this happens.

Even if you manage to bind the artefact to Shadowheart, the first time you remove her from the party the artefact still transfers to your inventory and gets bound to the main character. At that point it can't be removed. Even if some people say it's not a bug, I sure feel like it is a bug, because getting the artefact without a word from Shadowheart ruins the roleplayng experience. I hope Larian adreesses this in the next patch

The artefact does not belong to her, she was sent to steal or rob it by the mother superior (someone from the old BG games). The thing actually belongs to you. Of course you get no explanation from her, she doesn't know or trust you and is a devotee of the goddess of secrets.
You learn over the course of the game what the thing is and its secrets.

Yep none of this is a bug and is completely intentional one way or another it has to happen. It will make more sense of why or how when you play more other wise its major spoilers to explain any of it

That does not explain why she is adamant about not talking about it and not giving it away, yet you can just yoink it without any dispute by her.

Have the exact same thing happen to me and no, it does not make any sense. She should at least talk about it. But there is no reason I would get this artefact if I dismiss her, without her saying anything about it.

Pretty sure this is a gameplay flag to be sure you don't lose the most important quest item in the game (you can brick your game if you lose it and can just stzrt over).

By the way, there is a talk later saying that the artefzct flew to you and you didn't stealing and she let you keep it.

She eventually does bring it up but says there is nothing she can do about it. You can still get her to interact with it by switching to her, opening the party inventory (press tab) and then selecting it from the main character's inventory.

eg. I successfully pickpocketed (18 on a 5) her at the very start of the game (on the beach), and despite this, the cutscene shows her waking before you take it, and putting it away in her inventory. However, immediately after the cutscene finishes she's afflicted with 'shocked' and it shows up in my inventory.

While I can understand some of the counter arguments 'that it's intentionally moved to you, later on, and/or under certain conditions', but it makes no sense, in my case, when cutscene indicates otherwise. It appears more like the conditions of 'when' it's supposed to move are being flagged prior to when it should.

its a bug, or at least done not as intended, because I dismissed shadowheart early game and i got that artefact bound on my main character inventory, but later when i went to camp for a long rest, cutscene happened where shadowheart is examining that artefact how she does it if its in my inventory.

It is not a bug. The Artifact is critical to the game and will eventually be in your inventory no matter what you do with Shadowheart. It just shows up early when she is dismissed as the Tav must have it.

People really like using the term "bug" to describe things that are in no way bugs...
