But yes you can do both, as long as you do not go up a lift in Grymforge (Underdark) or enter the Inn (Mountain Pass)
okay so the Inn or the Grymforge will be the breaking point in both ways of no return? Thank you!
I haven't gotten there yet, but game should warn you at this point according to what can be found online.
1. Do everything in the overworld/the first map (Grove, Blighted village, Goblin Camp Risen Road)
2. Clear the Underdark (Myconid Colony, Sussur Tree, Arcane Tower, Grymforge)
3. Make sure you have cleared every quest you can/want to do in those areas
4. Travel to the mountain pass triggering the transition to act 2 cancelling all the quests you cannot/dont want to do
5. Clear the Mountain pass (Death Shepherds, Monestary)
6. Enter the Shadowlands through the Grymforge because that way you start closer to the main hub of the area.
I rerolled a game because I missed out on the whole mountain pass area. I went through the underdark into the shadowcurse lands.
As long you don't go up the lift in the underdark area. You should be be fine to go to the mountain pass. But there is a area which crosses into the shadow curse lands in the mountain pass area. As long you don't go through that you should be able to explore the underdark.
The wording is bit misleading on what is the point of no return.
