Is there any lore base about black elves, dwarves and gnomes and their amount ?
Is there any lore base about black elves, dwarves and gnomes and their amount ? May be about elvish or dwarvish slave trade with Katashaka continent. Actually I thought that dwarven race mixture with any other race was impossible in DND. I understand the game is woke as ♥♥♥♥ - but I demand some lore base on that very topic!

Of course there isn't, this was all done to "give a little more, that's all we ask" to the majority masses of the world that want to constantly appropriate our European culture/folklore and assuming Norse folklore elves were indeed real at point in time then it is appropriating their entire race.

I am so sick and tired of this, if the shoe were on the other foot...if we did that, if we made white any of THEIR folklore races, not only would we never hear the end of it, but be branded supremacists for trying to white wash everything.

I'll see if I can mod this so that there are strictly a single elven race and 3 ethnicities, High, Wood, Dark, not 9 if you add black and asian looking ones for each and every one.

Fair point. i think the key point is "not in the common high elf." Like, there are Drow and a few sub-races of elves with darker skintone but those groups are not common in the sword coast. I tihnk i'd actually have to look into this. And obviously discount any modern retcons in the last 5-6 years from WoTC

Sounds like you are looking for Drow, Duergar and Deep Gnomes.

Gold Dwarves are light brown/tanned, Forest Gnomes can be wood brown, Wood Elves can be copper or tan, and Wild Elves can be brown too.
For a moment I thought you were asking about Drow, Deep Gnomes, and Duergar lmao

Other than drow? No. In fact it contradicts established one, although in 3.X they started to protray Green Elves as black on drawings, but on descriptions no, they don't exist, black half elves on the other hand are a possibility.

Gold dwarves always looked somewhat semitic (think Babylonian Dwarves) and some had some black features, Chult did have some dwarves but I think they are white as well.

Dunno, they are literally called the forgotten folk for a reason, but they came from the Feywild like the elves so...although I think Lantan had some black gnomes, but my memory with those people get fuzzy.

There are Chultan native Dwarves but they look like Shield Dwarves if not even paler. Of course trade between both races and Chult is common.

No, they can produce what was called Mûls, when they reproduced with humans but they are sterile. There was an article in one of the dragon magazines saying that Dwarves that reproduce with anything produce dwarves at one point but I dunno about the canonicity of it in 5e.

As for numbers, if Wild Elves are the black ones we see: a few, but less common than the other subraces, if Gold Dwarves are the black ones: most of the Dwarven population is black, Gnomes: ???

Tolkein doesn't belong to white people, nor is Lord of the Rings folklore. That's where the modern high fantasy genre comes from, and everyone knows it.

Suggesting that DnD elves have anything to do with Norse mythology beyond their (anglicized) name is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid, and just an excuse for you get angry about seeing a black person in a video game.

Even if DnD was heavily invested in a culture's mythology, which it is absolutely not, why not be the better person if everyone else gatekeeping their culture bothers you so much? You're just as bad as "them," the fictional gatekeepers you made up to justify your racism.

Here come the virtue signal squad. "Representation means race-swapping existing characters. That will make X happy. I am such a good person for ending racism."

To be fair to Tolkien, his work was a rendition of British history and mythology provide for the British a folk story that they could tie culturally to. He also explicitly describes the skin tone of elves for example.

Yeah the Dwarves from Chult are pasty white but there can be brownish elves such as wood and wild elves.
On Gnomes I believe it's the Forest Gnomes who can be wood brown.

And none of them look even remotely african.
But it doesn't matter anyway, they love destroying culture too much to stop anytime soon. Mass media are controlled by americans and americans have a fetish for africans. It's utterly bizarre.

Baldurs Gate 1 has a black Rashemi (who are supposed to look physically a mixture between Iroquois and Slavic) so it's a little late for this...

I don't disagree but I just wanted an excuse to talk about the different subraces to be honest with you.

Oh cool, the racists finally managed to break through to make their own troll thread. Were you folks busy or something? Usually you lot are more prompt in talking about 'purity' and whatnot.

I disagree, we should call that out as something done in ignorance and lambast it all the same. That does appear to be a mistake on the part of the developers. Likely an actual mistake since they might not have read the details on the setting, it wasn't as easy to get back then, but a mistake nontheless.
