Act 2 Rescue annoyance
So in act 2, I've just discovered that you can't rescue the tieflings and deep gnome from Moonrise Towers if you've started the attack on it. My intention was to complete the zone of Act 2, then attack the towers and mop up every quests down there, but once I had completed the first attack, the quests had failed and I was unable to rescue anyone.
Now to me that's kinda BS.
It's way to far back for me to save scum and re-do it. I guess I'm just frustrated with it, as there is no indication that you need to slip into the Towers before you commence the attack to complete these quests, then do the whole Shar part, then the towers.

I agree. I am in that pickle right now, thankfully I hadn't progressed as far as you did, but I understand.

I wish they would be more clear about these things. Perhaps I skipped some dialogue in a haste, but I don't think thats the case.

What can you do though, at least now you know for next playthrough.

That said, shars gauntlet sucks, except for the demon fight. Hated that dungeon.
I think that was obvious

The entire of Act 2 makes 0 sense. If you go off the path the developers planned for it you bork a lot of quests...

How? Moonrise was built up to be the end of the act, thats where Ketheric is. There's no indication that you should infiltrate Moonrise to free the prisoners, then walk all the way to the Shar Temple, free the Nightsong, then walk all the way back. It doesn't make sense to infiltrate Moonrise if all the Absolute mfers know its YOU thats killing them all.

A lot of the quests in this game are horrible at indicating 'when' to do them. I don't know how much time I wasted trying to do a quest, only to realize later I can ONLY do that while progressing the story. This from the same game that warns you about moving forward, because you might miss out on stuff.

At first, I would have thought doing a prison break would have alerted the tower, but nope. You can murder everyone in the tower, room by room, and the only time enemies in other areas respond is if you get to close. I cleaned out the entire prison/ground floor of the tower/first floor of the tower on one save just to see. Each room was its own fight.

I just managed to save everyone down there.

In the process, I killed a few people.

I'm now wondering if I can go back there and attempt to kill everyone, before I finished Temple of Shar, which I have started.

Sorry for butting in with another question.

I have See Invisible permanently on Gale. A few times now, people have still managed to go invisible on me. Does that mean they have a saving throw or something like that? One was the Warden in Darkmoon.

Larian SHOULD ADD a direct warning of people dying if you continue into the Shar temple. i thought the quest ill miss was just some random ones on the field quests that im fine missing (plus its the same message if you have cleared out everything... i think), BUT NO i had to finish the Shar temple and the entire Moonrise Tower, i even got some sick Nat 20s!!!!

and then i realize "Wait did the prisoners run off or die? i didnt find any bodies.... oh hey Zevlor... oh no... OH GOD NO!"

i think i have to rewind like what? 6, 8 Full hours???? Larian JUST EDIT THE TEXT pls

Everyone at the start of act 2 literally says to you a thousand times "Oh, but you can walk among the cultist without problem. You just didn't pay attention.

They tell you before you confront the nightsong "If you proceed you will be locked out of some quest"

Yes but i thought you will miss out on random small quests on the field and NOT Moonrise.

here listen to my logic. i do Shar, remove big boss immortality and get help and while moonrise is in chaos, i go to the dungeons and save everyone

you know like what i did in Act 1. i went all the way to Minthara start her attack on Grove. and betray her on the spot. if this acted like Act 2 then when i arrive at Grove i would see it burning to the ground.

Sorry you missed out this play through.

BG3 is the rare game where your actions and decisions really DO matter.

Good Luck Going Forward :)

It's confusing, but it does encourage you to explore moonrise before you start the shar gauntlet as you pick up a lot of info about it in the tower.
Infiltrate the cult, pretend you are one of them, learn what you can, acquire the goodies from the vendors, and find info about the nightsong as well. then run off to the gauntlet to get the full story.
This is a problem I had entering act 3, no clear path to which order to do anything before getting locked out of everything else.

If you handle Act 1 the same way, ignore the people locked up in the camp and go muck around in the Underdark, then when you get back from the Underdark everything topside will have progressed without your involvement.

Act 1 literally goes down the same way Act 2 does.
