Joining a multiplayer game is an awful experience
Joining 20 different games, with all players being in an idle state for at least 5 minutes. The games where people are moving and playing, the player chooses to kick you out in a matter of a minute or shuts down the server after a couple minutes of play.

It's a lot like joining a dead indy game from 4-5 years ago. Oh. wow. after an hour of searching I've finally found a game that stays open until a tough decision in dialog.

It's literally not designed for play with pubbies. It's really designed for playing with your friends. If you want to play with pubbies, you're probably best off finding and organizing a group to then start the game with rather than joining random games.

Could be like Tekken 7 rooms, if the one who opened a mini-tournament leaves, automatically a random player becomes new host, nobody loses anything. I have little experience with multiplayer, but that's what happened there. Well, I'm willing to try Baldur's Gate online later.

True. That's actually how I prefer to play fighting games (my favourite genre), with friends, knowing who is behind the computer, but most fighting players prefer to fight random people as long as they just play quickly. u_u'

Could also be that people don't realize their game is open, and once someone joins if they haven't been saving often that's progress lost just so you're not permanently taking up space in their party.

I heard that they can remove custom player's character by just removing their unplayed avatar via the session tab in the pause menu, I think it's just the case of people not knowing whether that option ever exist when a random does happen to join the lobby.

Turns out the real Baulder's Gate is all the gate keeping people are doing with their online hosted game save files.
