It seems that because of the choices I've made up to this point in the game I've basically railroaded myself into the hardest version of this fight possible. My entire Party is at level 8. I don't see how it's possible for me to go higher. I've explored everything.
I'll give some suggestions though. Level 8 is a good level to beat that fight, so that shouldn't be the issue.
First of all: You should take advantage of his crowd control and area of effect damage. You want to wipe out the weaker enemies ASAP, maybe retreat a bit from the battle starting location and lure them into a choke-point near the stairs. I ended up starting the fight by casting a wall of fire on one half of the zombies immediately with Wyll (so Gale or maybe Minthara (I forget her class) could do that to help).
Second: for your rogue, if you are doing melee: keep them back until Shadowheart can take aggression, and then attack the same target so you hopefully can get advantage on them and get the sneak attack damage.
All in all, it's going to be a tough fight, but you should be able to manage it. Of course I'm making the assumption you play on Balanced - if you're trying that fight on Tactician, you'll probably want to leave and do some item optimization and maybe pick up some scrolls or the like that can make or break your opening into the fight. Also, drink elixirs and the like before you enter the fight itself if you can.
Oof, the consequences of your actions and things you didn't do when you had the opportunity caught up. I killed the spider guy outside of Moonrise so he didn't make an appearance during the boss fight. I also didn't kill Nightsong and she helped quite a bit. I'm not sure what you could do in this situation, but it's cool seeing how certain decisions can end up being a pain later on.
Oh no... I missed it. My bad...
Thanks, I did this and managed to get through the fight... but just barley, only Gale survived. I had him cast Wall of Fire on the stairway and proceeded to spam fireballs as everyone camped right above the stairs.
Im stuck in this exact situation, but on Tactitian.
Shadowheart, Minthara, Astarion and my Sorcerer.
I can save scum all I wan't, it's literally impossible to survive more than 2 rounds...
I have a crap load of scrolls, items and everything, but it's pointless, because I don't even survive long enough to get a chance to use them.
Spider guy has always highest initiative and sometimes instant kills Minthara with 72HP at the start...
Speaking of him: Where is he? Haven't seen him...
Also I saw someone mention there is a healing pod next to an elevator somewhere? What elevator? And the only healing pods I've seen in the entire game where on the nautiloid in the beginning.
This entire section is f*cking stupid: Kill one group of enemies, run back over the bride, long rest, come back and repeat....
Also it's f*cking stupid how they can spawn these zombie-pods and then they burst in the SAME ROUND, before I can react to it... WTF?!
Since everything does Necrotic damage, I drank elexiers for Necrotic resistance, but they just don't work... They literally do nothing, I still take a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of Necrotic danage.
As I said above. I dashed all my party members to the bottom of the stairs which bunched up everyone at the top and began spamming them with A.O.E's.
The spider guy was still managing to be a problem for me but I found that gale could use one of the wind spells (forget what its called) to push him off the tower.
I don't know if this is useful to you or not, but if you use my method of skipping 90% of moonrise tower, the spider dude doesn't even spawn in the end and the game just assumes you removed all Thorm's advantages since it doesn't have any progress/quest flags to process for the tower lol
But you might not have a save back at the beginning of moonrise tower so you might not be able to use that method.
Managed it that way, but had to completely cheese it.
Chugged potions, used coatings (Dow Poison) and Bless on everyone before going through the door. Had a rare invincibility potion, used it on Minthara, otherwise she'd have been instant killed again.
Got spider guy into a lucky position and knocked him of the tower with a spell.
Took out most zombie dudes, but was so low on health, that I just went back through the door. Short rest, back and the game completely bugged out. Thorm and a few guys where right at the door, and it was technically my turn, the game was in turn based mode, but the enemies moved in real time and murdered Minthrara while I was trying to do my turn.
Then I knocked that annoying spellcaster of the tower with an explosive arrow, lol.
This fiasco took me 5 f*cking hours.....
I kill Thorm in the mind flayer colony, and again barely surive, only to have f*cking Myrkul show up......... how the ♥♥♥♥ am I supposed to win? I'm already basically dead from the previous fight.
I have no potions anymore, nothing, all my spells are used up.
Can't level anymore, can't buy anymore stuff, have no alchemy ingedients...
And if party members die, I don't have anough revive scrolls......
At least let me f*cking replenisch between the 2 fights
