The Dice system is rigged 100%
How it could not be rigged. I have 4 chance to throw x2 dices (To get 12)
EVERY single time i get 1 and 4 dices.

1st Throw: (1) , (4)
2nd Throw: (1) , (4)
3rd Throw: (4) , (1)
4th Throw: (1) , (4)

Ever notice how no one ever starts a thread here about dice rolls complaining they get 20s too often?
Recjawjind 22 AGO 2023 a las 18:14
The law of small numbers eh.
Demonik 22 AGO 2023 a las 18:15
In combat for me <50% chance to hit = 0% or 1% chance to hit, its weird

It's called "bad luck" . You need a much larger specimen of dice use to tell if it's rigged or not, let's say 350/400 try , you set up an excel document and then you can take conclusions.

The first time i killed Yurgur, the rogue rolled a 20 crit on sneak 56 damage alltogther or so.
Then next in turn is my ranger ...both shots were natural 20 crit. No Yurgur after first round:D

Sadly as i snuck upon him it did not move the quest forward, so i had to redo it. The next time it was the minons of Yurgur who had the following sequence.
19-17-20-20-20-18-19-17-19 good thing those visible wore adamantine stuff:)
Even so Laezal barely survived as they needed 17 to hit her:P

karmic dice.
it amuses me that the default on option for karmic thats supposed to average out your rolls also makes breaks save scumming because it always rolls the same thing again on a re-load lol
Will_L 22 AGO 2023 a las 18:23
I rolled three consecutive one's on a skill check of two, savescumming is wonderful LOL

in some games with dices, i throw the whol game only 1-3. that happens. it is a game, of course it is in some kind rigget. try to programm a number randomizer, after a time you can predict what number, or number range will happen. if after 20000 throws you can say something is wrong, if it is still most 1 or 4...

Math says this is 1 in 25,600,000,000 odds. [(1/20)^2]^4. To roll a 1 and 4 combo 4 times in a row that is. A bit more extreme than 1 in 40,000 mentioned in the 6th comment here.

Still, there's over 800k players every day. Dice are being rolled millions of times per day. Surely we'd have tons of comments about the dice being loaded if this were the case. Sometimes you just can't please the RNG gods. Granted, true RNG is impossible to simulate even today. Table top, I've been known to have days where I roll ones multiple times in a row. Happens.

Not quite, I'd say roll20s quantum dice are true random.
They seed their RNG through the quantum fluctuations in a beam of light in a dedicated piece of hardware.

If you have karmic then yes the game will "cheat' against you. Once I turned Karmic dice off.. I started succeeding on skill check that... you know... I'm very skilled and and should pass easily (and in fact did with real life dice beside me, which succeeded a lot more than the game die)
Also PCs... game... they can't really be truely RNG (with how computers work and calculation. Try rolling dice in real life when you have to roll in game.. you'll see a difference, especially when the game makes you roll a 1, 2, 1.... -1 somehow (though I didn't have any negative modifiers on me, might have been a glitch.. the game does have those which can sometimes translate over to glitches in dice rolling.

Had to edit the above, it's 1 in 25 billion, not 1 in 2 million. Clearly too late for math. As for the RNG... there is no light or hardware in question. CPU's/ GPU's don't work like that. It's just an algorithm. It's far beyond the human's ability to see a pattern, but a computer can model it.

Anyways, yes, this is the probability assuming true random for 4 rolls using 2x 20 sided dice.

When you combine our very telling tendency to avoid apparent patterns when trying to manually generate a random set (thus outing it as non-random) with our very strong tendency to perceive patterns where there actually are none... human brain is spectacularly bad at eyeballing what randomness looks like and what patterns are. Its biases have served us well in our evolution so far but it takes quite a lot of study and self-convincing to realize just how horrible we are at randomness and large numbers etc.

There's no reason to talk down to someone who is just convinced something is off just because maybe because of our study curriculum, line of work or what have you we have actually conditioned ourselves to be ever slightly less awful at those skills. Awareness of the biases helps and knowing how to properly do the math helps but it doesn't change that we all come from the same place of having no natural skill whatsoever at dealing with it and can barely improve said natural skill, nor the fact that statistics are harder not to utterly botch than most realize.
HTakara 22 AGO 2023 a las 18:47
it's cause it's true RNG. True RNG sucks.
Lucifer69 22 AGO 2023 a las 18:47
The problem with the above is this isn't "true" random. Computers don't do random either. It's impossible to simulate, at least for now. We can do pseudo-random just fine. At some level, there's still a pattern, a formula for the results. The pattern is likely far beyond what the average human can see, however.
